Benefits of beeswax

Beeswax benefits

The honeybee known as apis melifera produces in its hive natural beeswax. The working bees have within their body in the abdominal region glands that produce wax. The size of the glands depends on the age of the bee. After the bee leaves the hive in search for food this gland is gradually atrophying. The beeswax is almost white but it becomes yellowish due to pollen and propolis storage within its cells.
The beeswax is used to produce candles, cosmetic, pharmaceutics and cleansing products. Though, few people are aware of the beeswax benefits for human health and not only.

Beeswax health benefits

honeycombs and pollenDue to its properties the beeswax does not interfere with the human digestive system and therefore it passes through our organism without changing its composition. It is important to keep in mind that the substances dissolved or encapsulated in beeswax are dissolved slowly, making it a highly appreciated product in the pharmaceutical industry.

In folk medicine, beeswax is used as an antiseptic to treat wounds and to remove the wax caps formed in the human ear. It is also used to treat various diseases of the ear and to improve hearing.

Beeswax mixed with butter is used to treat the disease known as lupus, in order to prepare an ointment applied on the skin of the suffering patients.

Beeswax is also used to cure various wounds and eczema. Thus, in the highlands of Scotland, since the ancient times, wounds are treated with the help of a ointment made of beeswax and other ingredients such as: pork lard and pine resin. Moreover, beeswax is used to prevent the transformation of burns into blisters.

In ancient Egypt, beeswax benefits were used during the embalming process in order to cover the eyes, the mouth and the nose of the corpse. This points out the conservation properties of the beeswax.

In the alternative Chinese medicine, beeswax is highly appreciated. It has a benefic effect over blood circulation and over the entire equilibrium of the human body. In combination with other ingredients it is used to treat various skin diseases but also as a remedy against the ageing process. In 200-300 A.D China, doctors recommended their patients to use beeswax in order to treat their skin problems. Thus, the affected skin region was wrapped with bandages soaked into melted wax.

Few people know that this hive product can be used to treat tonsillitis. If you suffer from this disease it is advisable to ware around your neck a layer of wax. Moreover, wax can be used as an expectorant to treat cough and believe it or not it can stimulate lactation. It is also used to treat periodontitis, nose inflammation and even asthma. Thus, in order to cure periodontitis you can chew the wax candies that are available in bio stores. These candies also ease the digestive process since they determine an increase of the gastric juice secretion. In the stomach, the beeswax is not digested but functions as a sort of ointment that facilitates the bowel transit.

Beeswax also contains A vitamin, which is necessary for the normal development of cells, therefore this hive product is used to treat various health problems that affect the mouth.

Oral administration of beeswax can be used in the treatment of spastic colitis and the resins that contain beeswax are very efficient in curing the disorders of the peripheral circulation at the level of the lower limbs.

However, in the majority of cases, beeswax is used in combination with other products. It is important not to forget that this natural product has a high level of carotene. Therefore, the consumption of beeswax helps in treating colitis and improving the peripheral blood circulation. Beeswax is also used in the composition of various suppository, pharmaceutical emulsions, dental wax and even sweets.

This product is also used to treat eye burns caused by caustic soda. Honey and beeswax are very efficient in treating a damaged cornea.

Beeswax cream - a teaspoon of rooster string powder
- a teaspoon of sweet-wood powder
- 10 drops of tea-tree essence
- sweet olive oil
- three measures of beeswax
Stir together the rooster string powder and the sweet-wood powder and afterwards add the mixture obtained from the tea-tree essence. Pour the mixture into metallic containers.

Beeswax lotion

Honeybees wax can be used in order to make a series of homemade ointments, juts by adding a series of various essential oils.

Ingredients :
- 2 measures of beeswax
- 3 measures of sweet almond oil
- 1 measure of jojoba oil
- 1/2 measures of canola oil

The jojoba, almond and canola oil are heated into a frying pan, then the wax is added. If you want to obtain a more creamy ointment you have to add less beeswax and if you want an ointment with a solid consistency you have to add more beeswax.
Wait a few minutes for the mixture to cool. If it is to creamy, add more beeswax and if it is too solid add more almond oil and reheat. As the mixture cools, add more essential oils in order to enrich the healing properties of your ointment.

You can use different essential oils in accordance with the illness that you want to cure:
- laurel oil for rheumatism
- bergamot oil for cold and bronchitis
- cumin oil for wounds
- cedar oil for stress and anxiety
- lemon oil for insects bites and stings
- eucalyptus oil for respiratory problems
- gardenia oil for blood pressure, influenza and palpitations
- orange oil for wounds
- patchouli oil for wounds; it is also an aphrodisiac
- rosemary oil for muscular pains

Therapeutic and cosmetic recommendations

If chewed, beeswax whitens, removes dental tartar and cleans teeth. At the same time it strengthens the gums.

Melted wax has been used for epilation since ancient times. Even though nowadays there are more modern methods to remove hair from various body parts, beeswax is still the most efficient and healthiest method of epilation, since it has antiseptic properties. There are researchers who claim that beeswax has an inhibitory effect on the hair follicle.

Warnings

The beeswax benefits do not apply to all. This hive product should not be chewed by people suffering from bulimia, hyperphagia, gastric hyperacidity, hyperacid gastritis and gastric ulcer. Beeswax should not be applied on fresh wounds, suppurations or very recent burns, since it forms a smooth layer beneath which the anaerobic microorganisms find a propitious environment for developing themselves.

Now days is pivotal to know exactly what the body is in taking, since health might be threatened at any time by wrong products or foods

Ultimately, Why Are Silica & Diatomaceous Earth So Healthy?

butenandtIn 1939, the Nobel Prize winner for chemistry, Professor Adolf Butenant, demonstrated that existence is not possible without the presence of Silica.
Based on his research carried out at Columbia College in 1972, silica is a vital nutrient that should be provided continuously from food sources.
Silica plays a huge role in lots of body functions and it has an immediate relationship with mineral absorption.
The typical human body holds roughly seven grams of silica, a sum far exceeding the figures for other important minerals, for example iron.
Both iron and silica are essential for the human body, meaning they're required for undertaking ongoing metabolic work that's vital to existence. Both elements should be continuously provided.
Many studies prove the favorable influence of vegetal silica taking place on the development of animals and humans. Silica is important to the skeleton and mineralization. Hence, silica’s absence leads to skeletal and penile deformation.
Hormonal disturbances within the human organism are frequently because of a calcium- magnesium discrepancy.
Several researches have proven that silica can restore this delicate balance.
Silica also benefits the assimilation of phosphorous. As a result it may be described as a catalyst in using additional factors.

Diatomaceous Earth Benefits With Silica Supplements?

Brittle bones are really a characteristic of aging. As calcium within our body leaches, the bones become brittle and weak.
Taking merely calcium mineral cannot correct or stop this threatening and crippling disease since the human body cannot assimilate and take advantage from the calcium, without the existence of silica.
D.E--skeletal-system
Evidence indicates that, rather than affecting healing, supplemental mineral calcium, on the other hand, speeds up the draining away of bone calcium and thus hastens the degenerative procedure for brittle bones and other alike illnesses affecting the encouraging and connective tissue in the body.
For brittle bones, silica can help stop the discomfort, as well as restore your body’s self-repair process.

Calcium And Silica

Brittle bones’ signs and symptoms attack women mainly after menopause, however the degenerative process begins much earlier within their more youthful days.
More women are dying of fractures triggered by brittle bones than of breast cancers, cervix, and uterus combined.
In brittle bones, loss from the bones happens because of inadequate manufacture of the encompassing protein medium in which calcium salts first deposit.
Deficiencies in calcium within the bone matrix result in enlargement of waterways and spaces within the bones, giving these a porous, thinned appearance. The destabilized bone becomes fragile and might be damaged at any kind of minor injury.
The bones might even fracture from normal pressure or stress. To intent to re-mineralize broken bones, it's suggested that the silica supplement is taken daily.
Bones comprise mainly phosphorus, magnesium and calcium they also contain silica.
Silica accounts for the adding of minerals in to the bones, especially calcium.
calcium-supplements
It boosts the healing of fractures as well as reduces skin damage to begin of the fracture.
Increasingly more research evidence implies that via a transmutation process, silica is converted into calcium when it's needed.
That's why some researchers make reference to silica like a precursor of calcium. Even if calcium is inadequate, the body can change silica into calcium if the bones need it.

Are Silica and Diatomaceous Earth, Nature’s perfect beauty product that works from the inside?

collagen-skinTissue degeneration speeds up because of aging. Ligaments develop a growing lack of ability to retain moisture, when left unassisted.
Silica might help slow the degenerative process of ligaments.
With silica, the vitality that is frequently lost as time goes by, could be naturally maintained as well as restored and improve the look of skin.
Connective tissue includes collagen, elastin, mucopolysaccharides, and mucous carbohydrates that really help moisture retention.
This remarkable ability to retain moisture keeps the ligaments bouncy and it has apparent importance in preventing premature aging.
Each one of these important molecules house large amounts of silica.
Collagen, largely comprised of silica, may be the glue that holds us together.
If the body has enough silica glucosaminoglycane, the bovine collagen can make us look more youthful.
If you regularly consume a silica regimen, the skin could keep its youthful look for a very long time. However, don't expect instant results. It may be beneficial to begin an organic vegetable silica supplementation years prior to the time when collagen within your body has deteriorated to the stage where it can be observed in the facial lines of your face and body.
A great silica supplementation program works far much better than other items for maintaining healthier and more durable collagen.

Hair that Shines With Silica & D.E Food Grade?

Locks are the finest beauty enhancer a man and a woman could have. Our hair deserves all the attention it could get from us.

By solidifying the enamel, silica prevents tooth decay and preserves healthy teeth. Silica also prevents bleeding gums, gum atrophy, and recession that trigger loss of teeth. Silica effectively fights caries (ulceration and also the decay of the bone or of the tooth) and inflammation.
Your nail plates are complex protein structures that grow 4 to 5 millimeters monthly.
Just in case of deficiency, the speed of growth slows.
In conclusion, your fingernails could possibly be the first indications of silica deficiency.
Demineralization of the nails precedes undoubtedly the decalcification of bones.
You'll be able to start a silica supplementation over time, in order to prevent bone loss.
With silica supplementation, fragile nails become normal in only a short time.
Silica will enhance the look of your nails and increase their hardness, which makes them shinier and no longer vulnerable to breaking.

With sufficient intake, enough assimilation from the vital nutrient can tell even if your bodysuits’ capability to assimilate is impaired. Any excess of silica that is not necessary will be instantly removed with the bloodstream, the renal system and digestive tract.
Most of us need silica, no matter how old we are.
for-beautiful-health
Silica has a direct relation to absorption of all other minerals that the human body demands in order to keep up good health. Silica contributes to the high standard of existence, while enhancing stamina and good disposition.
For re-mineralization reasons, for example bone healing, 4 to 8 times the usual amount ought to be consumed until the silica therapy has proven to be effective. This is most effectively achieved when under the supervision of a physician.
Researchers think that silica is available in your body in three forms: 1. a soluble form, comprising 10 % from the body’s silica, 2. an application coupled with fats and comprising 30 % and 3. an application coupled with proteins comprising the rest of the 60%. This shows how our daily dependence on silica is very high.

Alternative Health Qualities of Silica – Diatomaceous Earth

All About Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade
diatomaceous_earth-powderDiatomaceous earth is described as a naturally-created sedimentary mineral formed from the remains of the items that were once oceanic unicellular shells and algae referred to as diatoms.
Diatoms, the ocean's "spiny honeycombs," are 30 million years of age, and were created when these microscopic algae-like plants died and continued to be compounded within the earth's surface as skeletal remains.
These microorganisms, similar to mollusks produce lime-carbonate and emit silica.
Researchers make reference to these clay-like, chalky remains as diatomite. Whenever we mine our planet, we uncover these remains as a thick whitened siliceous powder.
Food-grade diatomaceous earth offers important health benefits, particularly related that it consists of roughly 85% amorphous silica.
Previously, humans could consume enough silica in foods, but as modern hybrid meals and toxic soil grew to become real, studies claim that no more than 1/3 silica that people require is contained in our fruits and veggies.
This can be a sad fact, considering that silica is really an essential component for the sake of our tendons, cartilage, bloodstream ships, and bones. It's also required for the strength of our skin, teeth and nails. It even adds to the healthiness of our vital organs, such as the heart, liver and lungs.

Diatomaceous Earth food Grade Composition –

A powerful abrasive, Diatomaceous Earth consists of a distinctive mixture of 33% silica, 19% calcium, 5% sodium, 3% magnesium and 2% iron, too 15 other minerals like boron, manganese, titanium, copper and zirconium.
The earliest utilization of diatomaceous earth continues to be like a tooth paste and facial scrub, because of its mild abrasive capabilities.
Similarly, it functions like a mild abrasive in the body, getting rid of intestinal intruders along with other dangerous microorganisms in the digestive system, stimulating digestion and absorption of nutrition by sweeping foreign physiques from the system.
Diatomaceous Earth can also be chocked-filled with naturally sourced minerals. These minerals promote strong nails, healthy skin and shinier hair in animal use.
Due to its cleansing qualities, we now can say that Diatomaceous Earth is the silica form we need to use in order to cleanse and detox our internal systems. The molecular structure in this compound traps the toxins and heavy metals in our bodies and carries them outside through the human body’s elimination systems.
Being the inorganic form of silica, detoxification is the main purpose of Diatomaceous Earth to keep us healthy and moving. While using Diatomaceous Earth for cleansing, it is ideal to use the organic form of Silica (Orthosilicic Acid) in order to help the cells and tissues to rebuild and replicate. The detoxification and healing powers of Silica in both forms are proven to be miracles of Nature, proven by scientific studies, over years.
Other health advantages of Diatomaceous Earth:
silica-benefits-some• * Increases the minerals’ absorption: as silica is water-soluble and doesn't remain in your body for a very lengthy period of time, adding Diatomaceous Earth helps your body to keep optimal absorption of those important minerals.
• * May help with cholesterol-reducing and bloodstream pressure.
• * May lead to more regular going number 2, because it functions being an internal cleansing aid.
• * Utilized in animals to manage intestinal unwanted organisms that are lacerated through the abrasiveness of Diatomaceous Earth. It has also proven positive results in freeing E-Coli, along with other types of bacteria and infections.
• * Consists of anti-yeast qualities.
silica-inflammation• * Functions like an effective overall detoxing agent - A powerful natural chelation agent, Diatomaceous Earth sucks the chemical toxins (for example those found in vaccines, water and meals.
More Interesting Info and Advantages of Diatomaceous Earth
Diatomaceous Earth is frequently used like a natural pesticide, since its absorption qualities really dry out the waxy surface from the insects' exoskeleton.
Food and medical-grade Diatomaceous Earth can also be used like a safe and non-toxic method to p-earthworm pets, and has even been used like a natural type of litter. The U.S. CDC suggests it as being an all-natural way of overcoming toxic spills. It's also a typical component in oil-absorbing natural facial items and masks.

Diatomaceous Earth or Silica Supplementation?

Currently SilaLive is the only product 2in1 that features qualities of both Orthosilicic Acid and Diatomaceous Earth.
The main difference between Diatomaceous Earth and Orthosilicic Acid is that the first mentioned is the inorganic form of Silica, while the second one is the organic form of the same mineral.
As you previously understood, the inorganic form (Diatomaceous Earth) will take care of eliminating the toxins and heavy metals in your body in order to make room for the organic form (Orthosilicic Acid) to start re-building and curing harmed cells.
Taking care of both these health problems with different products might be pricey and difficult for you to cope with.
That’s why, the scientists and supplement developers at Higher Health Foundation came up with a supplement based on Silica, which takes care of both problems and works as both forms of the mineral.

Health Benefits of Lavender Essential Oil

The health benefits of lavender essential oil include its ability to eliminate nervous tension, relieve pain, disinfect the scalp and skin, enhance blood circulation and treat respiratory problems. The Latin name of lavender is Lavare, which means “to wash”, due to its aroma which has a particularly clean aroma.
Lavender oil is extracted mostly from the flowers of the lavender plant, primarily through steam distillation. The flowers of lavender are fragrant in nature and have been used for making potpourri for centuries. Traditionally, lavender essential oil has also been used in making perfumes. The oil is very useful in aromatherapy and many aromatic preparations and combinations are made using lavender oil.
Lavender oil blends well with many other essential oils including cedarwood, pine, clary sage, geranium, and nutmeg. Today, lavender essential oil is frequently used in various forms including aromatherapy oil, gels, infusion, lotion, and soaps.

Health Benefits of Lavender Essential Oil

The various health benefits of lavender essential oil include the following:
Bug Repellent: The smell of lavender essential oil is potent for many types of bugs like mosquitoes, midges, and moths. Apply some of the lavender oil on the exposed skin when outside to prevent these irritating bites. Furthermore, if you do happen to be bitten by one of those bugs, the lavender essential oil has anti-inflammatory qualities that will reduce the irritation and the pain associated with bug bites.
Sleep: Lavender essential oil induces sleep which has made it a common recommendation for an alternative treatment of insomnia. Frequent studies on elderly patients have shown an increase in their sleep regularity  when their normal sleep medication is replaced with some lavender essential oil being placed on their pillows. It has such a relaxing impact on people that it can often replace modern medicine for sleep issues.
Nervous system: Lavender essential oil has a calming scent which makes it an excellent tonic for the nerves and anxiety issues. Therefore, it can also be helpful in treating migraines, headaches, depression, nervous tension and emotional stress. The refreshing aroma removes nervous exhaustion and restlessness while also increasing mental activity. It has a well-researched impact on the autonomic nervous system, which is why it is frequently used as a treatment for insomnia and also as a way to regulate heart-rate variability. One study showed that people taking tests showed a significant decrease in mental stress and anxiety, as well as increased cognitive function when they inhaled lavender oil and rosemary oil before taking the exam!
LavenderessentialoilAcne: According to dermatologists and aromatherapists, lavender essential oil is one of the most beneficial oils in the treatment of acne, which is a very uncomfortable and embarrassing condition that primarily affects young people as they move through puberty, but can also afflict adults. It is characterized by red, raised sores on the face and body that develop due to a bacterial infection near the sebum gland. When sebum cannot be properly secreted from the sebum glands on the face, it begins to build up, particularly because puberty stimulates extra sebum and bacteria feeds off of it, creating a vicious cycle of irritation, infection, and visible sores that can result in serious scarring.
Lavender essential oil inhibits the bacteria that cause the initial infection, helps to regulate some of the over-excretion of sebum by hormonal manipulation, and can reduce the signs of scarring after the acne has begun to heal. Adding a small amount of lavender essential oil to other skin creams or ointments can greatly increase the potential for relief and healing.
Pain relief: Lavender essential oil is known as an excellent remedy for various types of pains including those caused by sore and tense muscles, muscular aches, rheumatism, sprains, backache and lumbago. A regular massage with lavender oil can also provide relief from pain in the joints. A study done on postoperative pain relief showed that combining lavender essential oil vapor into the oxygen significantly reduced the amount of pain experienced, versus those patients only revived with oxygen after a major surgery.
Urine flow: Lavender essential oil is good for urinary disorders because of its stimulating effect on urine production. Furthermore, it helps in restoring hormonal balance and reducing cystitis or inflammation of the urinary bladder. It also reduces any associated cramps with these and other disorders.
Respiratory disorders: Lavender oil is widely used for various respiratory problems including throat infections, flu, cough, cold, asthma, sinus congestion, bronchitis, whooping cough, laryngitis, and tonsillitis. The oil is either used in the form of vapor or is applied on the skin of the neck, chest and back. It is also added to many vaporizers and inhalers that are commonly used for colds and coughs. The stimulating nature of lavender essential oil can also loosen up the phlegm and relieve the congestion associated with respiratory conditions, speeding up the recovery process and helping the body naturally eliminate phlegm and other unwanted material. The vapor of lavender essential oil also has antibacterial qualities which can battle respiratory tract infections.
Hair care: Lavender essential oil is useful for hair care because it has been shown to be very effective on lice, lice eggs, and nits. Furthermore, lavender essential oil has also been shown to be very helpful in the treatment of hair loss, particularly for patients who suffer from alopecia, an autoimmune disease where the body rejects its own hair follicles. A Sottish study reported that more than 40% of alopecia patients in the study reported an increase in hair growth when they regularly rubbed lavender essential oil into their scalp. Therefore, lavender oil is sometimes recommended as a preventative measure for male pattern baldness!
Cancer: Although more research needs to be done on human subjects, there is significant research on the effects of lavender, in combination with other essential oils, as a way to prevent the occurrence of breast cancer in mice. However, this could be an indication of an increased chance of lavender battling other carcinogenic effects and the presence of cancer.
Blood circulation: Lavender essential oil is also good for improving the circulation of blood in the body. Research suggests that aromatherapy using lavender oil has beneficial effects on coronary circulation. It also lowers blood pressure and is often used for hypertension. This means that not only do the organs increase their levels of oxygenation, promoting muscle strength and health, but brain activity can have a noticeable boost, skin remains bright and flushed with blood, and the body is protected from the risks of heart attack and artherosclerosis that is often associated with poor circulation.
Digestion: Lavender oil is useful for digestion because it increases the mobility of food within the intestine. The oil also stimulates the production of gastric juices and bile, thus aiding in the treatment of indigestion, stomach pain, colic, flatulence, vomiting and diarrhea.
lavenderoilImmunity: Regular use of lavender essential oil provides resistance to a variety of diseases. It is well-known that lavender has antibacterial and antiviral qualities that make it perfect for defending the body against rare diseases like TB, typhoid, and diphtheria, according to early research in the 20th century.
General Skin care: The health benefits of lavender oil for the skin can be attributed to its antiseptic and antifungal properties. It is used to treat various skin disorders such as acne, wrinkles, psoriasis, and other inflammatory conditions. It is commonly used to speed up the healing process of wounds, cuts, burns, and sunburns because it improves the formation of scar tissues. Lavender oil is also added to chamomile to treat eczema.
Other: Other health benefits of lavender essential oil include its ability to treat leucorrhoea. The oil can also used to repel mosquitoes and moths, which is why you will find many mosquito repellents that contain lavender oil as one of the primary ingredients.
As with many other essential oils, pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid using lavender essential oil. It is also recommended that patients with diabetes stay away from lavender oil. It may also cause allergic reactions to people that have unusually sensitive skin. Some people may also witness nausea, vomiting and headaches due to either common or excessive use of lavender oil.
Perhaps most importantly, lavender oil should never be ingested, only topically applied or inhaled through means of aromatherapy or similar activities. The Benefits Of Using Aloe Vera For Skin Care And More

The Benefits Of Using Aloe Vera For Skin Care And More

Aloe vera has been used for a host of purposes since the ancient Egyptians called it the “plant of immortality.”

Since then, its uses have become more targeted and medicinal, and it's one of the leading therapies for sunburns.
Aloe vera is a cactus plant that belongs to the Liliaceae family. It grows in dry climates such as those found in parts of Africa and India and has been used medicinally for centuries.

Aloe leaves secrete a clear gel that when broken off from the rest of the plant that can be applied topically to heal wounds and soothe skin.
Various studies have been conducted to examine the benefits of the aloe vera plant and it was found out that aloe vera does in fact have several properties that are effective in treating a variety of skin conditions, from flaky or dry skin, cosmetic ailments, hair and scalp problems to many more.

It is also said to be useful in treating wounds and burns, minor skin infections, cysts, diabetes, and elevated blood lipids in humans, and shows some promise in treating more serious and persistent conditions such as eczema, genital herpes, dandruff, psoriasis, canker sores, skin ulcers and others, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Here are 8 benefits of using aloe vera gel:

1. It treats sunburn.

Aloe Vera helps with sunburn through its powerful healing activity at the epithelial level of the skin, a layer of cells that cover the body. It acts as a protective layer on the skin and helps replenish its moisture. Because of its nutritional qualities and antioxidant properties, the skin heals quicker.
2. It acts as a moisturizer.

Aloe moisturizes the skin without giving it a greasy feel, so it`s perfect for anyone with an oily skin complexion. For women who use mineral-based make-up, aloe vera acts as a moisturizer and is great for the face prior to the application to prevents skin drying. For men: Aloe vera gel can be used as an aftershave treatment as its healing properties can treat small cuts caused by shaving.

3. It treats acne.

Aloe vera gel contains two hormones: Auxin and Gibberellins. These two hormones provide wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce skin inflammation. Giberellin in aloe vera acts as a growth hormone stimulating the growth of new cells. It allows the skin to heal quickly and naturally with minimal scarring.

Aloe is soothing and can reduce skin inflammations, blistering and itchiness, while helping the skin to heal more rapidly. Additionally, in Ayurvedic medicine, Aloe is used to effectively heal chronic skin problems, such as psoriasis, acne and eczema.
4. It fights aging.

As we age, everyone begins to worry about the appearance of fine lines and the loss of elasticity in their skin. Aloe leaves contain a plethora of antioxidants including, beta carotene, vitamin C and E that can help improve the skin's natural firmness and keep the skin hydrated.

5. It lessens the visibility of stretch marks.

The skin is like one big piece of elastic that’ll expand and contract as needed to accommodate growth. But if the skin stretches too far, too fast (due to pregnancy, rapid weight gain or loss) the elasticity of the skin can be damaged. That’s what leaves those unsightly stretch marks. These marks appear due to minor tears in the layers of the skin caused by sudden and excessive stretching. Aloe vera gel can help hide these stretch marks by healing these wounds.
6. It's nutrient rich for good health.

This solid material contains over 75 different nutrients including vitamins, minerals, enzymes, sugars, anthraquinones or phenolic compounds, lignin, saponins, sterols, amino acids and salicylic acid.
7. It soothes in periodontal disease.

According to a study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, it's extremely helpful in the treatment of gum diseases like gingivitis, periodontitis. It reduces bleeding, inflammation and swelling of the gums. It is a powerful antiseptic in pockets where normal cleaning is difficult, and its antifungal properties help greatly in the problem of denture stomatitis, apthous ulcers, cracked and split corners of the mouth.
8. It aids in digestion.

The internal benefits of aloe vera are supposed to be just as amazing. The plant is said to improve the digestion and to relieve ulcers. Some people consider it a laxative, while others attribute that effect to its digestive qualities (which normalize the system and induce regularity). The juice is also prescribed for arthritis and rheumatism. To test any of these claims, steep the cut foliage in water or chew pieces of the fresh leaf.

How does vitamin E benefit skin?

How does vitamin E benefit skin?

Avocado, nuts, and vegetable oil are natural sources of vitamin E.
Avocado, nuts, and vegetable oil are natural sources of vitamin E.
It's common knowledge that vitamin E is good for your skin, but not many people could tell you exactly what this nutrient does -- vitamin E is an antioxidant that protects and repairs your skin.
Antioxidants are agents that neutralize the oxidant effect of free radicals, which are molecules that damage collagen and cause skin dryness, fine lines and wrinkles. A simple chemistry lesson can explain how vitamin E does this. The atoms that comprise your body try to maintain an even number of electrons -- that's what makes them stable. If an atom has an uneven number of electrons, it will steal an electron from another atom to become stable. When your skin takes a beating from outside factors, such as the sun's ultraviolet rays, your body can produce free radicals. Free radicals are atoms with an uneven number of electrons, and when they form inside your body, they steal electrons from healthy cells like the ones that make up your skin. This can cause a damaging chain reaction, and that's where antioxidants like vitamin E come in.
Antioxidants neutralize free radicals and prevent cellular damage from occurring. Vitamin E is one of the most powerful antioxidants, but your body can't produce it, which means you have to make sure you're getting enough of this valuable nutrient in your diet. Eating foods high in vitamin E and taking vitamin E supplements if you can't get enough through your food intake can can help prevent premature aging of your skin and damage to your DNA. Studies show that taking vitamin E long term can even reduce sunburns from exposure to UVB radiation. This doesn't mean that taking vitamins or applying topical vitamin E will allow you to safely bake in the sun, but you can help your skin stay healthier and more supple by ensuring you get enough of this antioxidant vitamin.
Keep reading to learn what foods are high in vitamin E and how to incorporate them into your diet.

Extra Virgin Olive oil is essential for smooth skin, especially when used while soaking in the bath tub

1001 Ways to use olive oil-Beauty

Beauty

Beauty
If you’ve never used olive oil as part of your beauty regimen, you’re in for a real treat. It is rich in squalane, a natural emollient that is great for your nails, lips, hair, and skin. In addition, it is packed with Vitamins A & E and polyphenols that make it popular in many prepackaged beauty products. You can use it at home as part of your routine to:
Soak thin, brittle nails and tattered cuticles. Use a small amount of olive oil to moisturize cuticles, or mix oil and water and immerse your fingertips before a manicure to smooth, strengthen and soften them.
Get rid of stains from nails and fingers. Simply add a few drops of lemon juice to olive oil and soak your fingers in the mixture.
Exfoliate your face and hands. Combine sea salt or sugar with olive oil and scrub to exfoliate skin. You can also add an essential oil of your choice to create a fragrant experience reminiscent of a spa.  After rinsing, you are left with a moisturized skin that really glows!
Reduce signs of aging on your hands. Smooth liberally onto hands before bed, put on cotton gloves, and wake up with soft, young looking hands.
Get healthy skin. Olive oil is a great skin moisturizer, in part because it contains linoleic acid, a compound not made by the body, but which prevents water from evaporating. It also contains a polyphenols hydroxytyrosol, an antioxidant that reinforces cell walls and reduces signs of aging. A mixture of 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/4 cup vinegar, and 1/4 cup water used as a night cream will give your skin a soft glow. The olive oil softens and hydrates and the vinegar lightens discolorations, kills bacteria and loosens dead skin cells. Splash your face with water before applying.
Calm red and irritated skin. Add a few tablespoons of olive oil to your running bath water. In addition, you can add 1 teaspoon of lavender oil to a bath to help with relaxation. The olive oil makes your skin very smooth and has shown to reduce wrinkles over time.
Soften dry and cracked feet. A little extra virgin olive oil makes a fabulous
substitute for foot cream. Just massage on your feet before going to bed and wear socks to sleep. The olive oil works as a lubricant on the feet and does not disappear the way most lotions do.
Moisturize skin before sun exposure. Slather on olive oil before braving the sun – it’s rich in Vitamins A and E, and locks the moisture in your skin while protecting you from UV rays. According to Leslie Baumann, M.D., author of The Skin Type Solution, eating olives and olive oil can actually promote healthy skin. Olive oil contains a minimum of four different antioxidants, which can help "neutralize damaging free radicals that can lead to skin aging and skin cancer." Baumann writes that in studies mice that were given extra virgin olive oil developed less skin cancer after exposure to UV light.
Relieve sunburn. Mix olive oil with white vinegar and apply before a warm bath to soothe and heal the burn. You can also rub olive oil onto the sunburn to prevent peeling.
Use as a massage oil. You can create a mixture of organic oils: extra virgin olive oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, in equal parts along with a small amount of jojoba or almond oil and vitamin E as a preservative that keeps your skin smooth and soft.
Replace shaving cream. Do you have sensitive skin? Be gentle with your legs by using olive oil as a shaving cream. Olive oil is a safe and organic alternative for shaving foam and results in a close shave that is less expensive and leaves your legs feeling silky and smooth.
Restore moisture to your lips. Mix olive oil and melted beeswax in equal portions, with an essential oil for a nice fragrance.
Just dab on your finger and smear to relieve dry and chapped lips.
Clear up acne. The idea of applying oil to your face as a treatment of acne does sound strange but it works. Create a paste by mixing 4 tablespoons salt with 3 tablespoons olive oil. Pour the mixture onto your hands and fingers and massage it on to your face. Let set for a minute or two, and then rinse it off with warm, soapy water. Apply daily for a week, then cut back to two or three times weekly. You should see a noticeable improvement in your condition. The premise is that the salt cleanses the pores by exfoliation and the olive oil restores the skin’s natural moisture.
Produce your own homemade soap. Mix 50/50 with saved fat for homemade soap. 100% EV olive oil can be used in soap making, but it takes longer to cure.
Remove makeup. Using a cotton swab, dab a bit under your eyes, on your cheeks and forehead, then wipe with a damp cloth. Finish by using a gentle cleanser. Your skin will be soft and smooth. Olive oil is a great option for those with sensitive skin.
Eliminate paint from your skin or hair. Massage olive oil on messy hand, arms and even hair. Allow the oil to soak into the skin for several minutes before rinsing with soap and water.
Banish tangled and frizzy hair. Comb a bit of olive oil through dry or frizzy hair to help tame and moisturize your tresses, especially in the winter or on muggy days. Olive oil can also provide some reprieve for brittle and damaged hair.
Substitute for daily hair conditioner. A small amount of olive oil applied after shampooing can be substituted for hair conditioner. Apply a small drop into your palm & then rub both hands together & then apply it to dry hair.
Deep condition your hair. Weekly, give hair and scalp a massage with slightly heated olive oil applied liberally. Comb through hair and let set for at least an hour or two. Shampoo hair to remove oil and thoroughly rinse. This will leave you with unbeatable shine and healthier looking hair with fewer split ends.
Cut down on dandruff. Mix olive oil with almond oil and keep on scalp for five minutes. Rinse well to clear hair of dandruff.
Diminish static in winter months. Rub a small amount into your hands before running your fingers through your hair. Follow with a stroke or two from a natural brush.
Condition a hairless scalp. Rub with olive oil and then lay on a hot moist towel. When the towel cools, reheat in the microwave. Be careful not to let it get too hot. Repeat several times.
Clean makeup brushes. Mix olive oil with a tsp of dishwashing liquid. Rub a small amount on the brush and wipe the brush back and forth on the palm of your hand, then rinse.

Health Benefits of Epsom Salt Baths

Health Benefits of Epsom Salt Baths

  • Most of us know about the importance of iron and calcium for our bodies, but what about magnesium? It is the second most abundant element in human cells and the fourth most important positively charged ion in the body. It helps the body regulate over 325 enzymes and plays an important role in organizing many bodily functions, like muscle control, electrical impulses, energy production and the elimination of harmful toxins.
Most of us are deficient in magnesium, so I’m going to put on my wise-granny hat on here and tell you this: soaking in a bath with Epsom salt, which is high in magnesium, is one of the easiest ways to get a boost.
According to the National Academy of Sciences, American’s magnesium deficiency helps to account for high rates of heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, arthritis and joint pain, digestive maladies, stress-related illnesses, chronic fatigue and a number of other ailments. Who knew?!

Our magnesium levels have dropped by half in the last century due to changes in agriculture and diet. Industrial farming has depleted magnesium from soil and the typical American diet contains much less magnesium than that of our forefathers. And in fact, the modern American diet with its fat, sugar, salt and protein actually works to speed up the depletion of magnesium from our bodies.
Another factor in decreased magnesium levels has been our focus on getting enough calcium. It’s a delicate dance–calcium depletes magnesium yet calcium functions best when enough magnesium is present. Studies indicate that taking a calcium supplement without enough magnesium can increase the shortage of both nutrients. Researchers have found that many Americans have five times as much calcium as magnesium in their bodies, although the proper ratio for optimum absorption of both minerals is two to one.
With such widespread magnesium deficiency one might think that magnesium supplements would be called upon, but studies show that magnesium is not easily absorbed through the digestive tract. The presence of specific foods or drugs, certain medical conditions, and the chemistry of a person’s stomach acid can render magnesium supplements ineffective.
This brings us to Epsom salt. Known scientifically as hydrated magnesium sulfate, Epsom salt is rich in both magnesium and sulfate. While both magnesium and sulfate can be poorly absorbed through the stomach, studies show increased magnesium levels from soaking in a bath enriched with Epsom salt! Magnesium and sulfate are both easily absorbed through the skin. Sulfates play an important role in the formation of brain tissue, joint proteins and the proteins that line the walls of the digestive tract. They stimulate the pancreas to generate digestive enzymes and are thought to help detoxify the body of medicines and environmental contaminants.
Researchers and physicians suggest these health benefits from proper magnesium and sulfate levels, as listed on the web site of the Epsom Salt Industry Council:
  • Improved heart and circulatory health, reducing irregular heartbeats, preventing hardening of the arteries, reducing blood clots and lowering blood pressure.
  • Improved ability for the body to use insulin, reducing the incidence or severity of diabetes.
  • Flushed toxins and heavy metals from the cells, easing muscle pain and helping the body to eliminate harmful substances.
  • Improved nerve function by electrolyte regulation. Also, calcium is the main conductor for electrical current in the body, and magnesium is necessary to maintain proper calcium levels in the blood.
  • Relieved stress. Excess adrenaline and stress are believed to drain magnesium, a natural stress reliever, from the body. Magnesium is necessary for the body to bind adequate amounts of serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of well being and relaxation.
  • Reduced inflammation to relieve pain and muscle cramps.
  • Improved oxygen use.
  • Improved absorption of nutrients.
  • Improved formation of joint proteins, brain tissue and mucin proteins.
  • Prevention or easing of migraine headaches.
All this from a bath? Hurray! While there are many different brands of Epsom salt, they are all the same product chemically, and can be found at most drug stores. Add two cups of Epsom salt and soak for at least 12 minutes. Do this three times weekly.
If you are pregnant or have any health concerns, please check with your doctor before using Epsom salts.

Why Citric Acid Is Essential For Your Body

Why Citric Acid Is Essential For Your Body (& Who Should Avoid It)

by Avantika Kukreti
Used for centuries to preserve meat and fish, citric acid has innumerable health benefits. It increases the acidity of the bacterial environment, making it difficult for the microbes to survive and, more importantly, to reproduce.
Being an acid, citric acid is an alkalizing agent that helps decrease acidity levels in body fluids. It also binds the excess calcium and allows it to leave the body.
Citric Acid: Naturally Healthy
Citric acid can be obtained both naturally (in plants) and artificially (in human tissues and body fluids).
It’s present in large quantities in juicy fruits such as limes, oranges, grapefruits, kiwis, strawberries, apples, pears, cherries and raspberries and vegetables such as mushrooms, potatoes, tomatoes, peas and asparagus.
Citric acid is often used for proper mineral supplementation of food, as an acidity regulator, and as a flavoring ingredient. Though not an antioxidant itself, citric acid enhances the activity of many beneficial antioxidants. All these properties offer a wide range of health benefits.
  •  Boosting Renal Health: Citric acid ensures proper functioning of the kidneys and prevents the formation of kidney stones. Its alkalizing properties and the ability to bind to calcium are useful in treating other kidney ailments, too. (Related Article: 5 Natural Ways To Prevent Kidney Stones)
  • Fighting Free Radicals: As an antioxidant, citric acid can neutralize the damaging effects of free radicals, which are unstable compounds that trigger the growth of cancerous tumors.
  • Improving Mineral Absorption: Experts say that citric acid mixes with minerals and metals easily, facilitating their absorption in the body.
  • Revitalizing The Skin: Citric acid is a common ingredient in face packs and skin products. It helps in the regeneration of skin tissue, slowing down the aging process. Creams rich in citric acid can have a depigmenting effect and can lighten freckles.
  • Soothing A Sore throat: Citric acid can reduce the inflammation caused by tonsillitis. Gargling with a combination of citric acid and water clears throat infection by killing the infection-causing germs. (Related Article: 6 Natural Sore Throat Remedies)
  • Curbing Nausea: Citric acid can alleviate nausea by reducing gastric acidity.(Related Article: 5 Natural Home Remedies For Nausea)
Who Should Avoid It
Despite its many health benefits, citric acid supplementation can cause a variety of side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea and abdominal pain, which is why you must consult a doctor before you start taking supplements.
  • Stomach Upset: Excessive citric acid can cause vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, loss of appetite and abdominal pain. Here are five foods that can eliminate your tummy troubles naturally.
  • Bloody Or Black, Tarry Stools:  Excessive consumption of citric acid can result in discolored stools or bloody and cloudy urine. It extreme cases, it may trigger a fever, headache, frequent urge to urinate or decrease in the amount of urine.
  • Dizziness Or Loss Of Blood Pressure: Citric acid can cause a loss of fructose absorption, leading to a sudden drop in blood pressure, dizziness, decreased attention and fainting. (Related Article: 7 Natural Remedies To Keep Your Blood Pressure In Check)
  • Affects Infant Health: Citric acid supplements are not recommended for babies or children, as it can affect the absorption of heavy metals such as cadmium and lead into the blood.
  • Weak Hair: Citric acid may also lead to hair degradation, discoloration or breakage. The acid tends to open the hair cuticle and removes minerals from the hair. Here’s your personal guide to gorgeous hair.
  • Drug Interactions: Citric acid may interact with certain drugs that contain aluminum salts, tetracyclines such as doxycycline, amphetamines and anorexiant drugs like phentermine. (Related Article: 6 Food-Drug Combos To Avoid & Why)
