Holly Bell, the Little Christmas Wish
Collector
Moral of the Story:
Every whispered wish has meaning, no matter
how small it may seem. Listening with a gentle heart helps us understand what
others truly need. Real magic begins when we care enough to bring joy to
someone else. Even the quietest dreams deserve a chance to shine. When you
carry love in your heart, you become a light for others. Helping someone feel
heard is one of the greatest gifts we can give. Christmas wishes are collected with kindness and delivered with love. The
spirit of Christmas grows stronger every time we choose to care.
High above Santa’s Village, beyond the
rooftops dusted with glittering snow, lived a tiny creature named Holly Bell.
She was unlike any elf or reindeer or toymaker. Holly was a Wish Collector,
one of the rare Christmas helpers whose job was to gather the whispered wishes
of children all around the world.
Holly was small and gentle, shaped like a
tiny fluttering snowflake mixed with the glow of a shining bell. Her wings
sparkled with silver dust, and every time she moved, she gave the softest
little chime. Not loud. Not bold. Just a quiet, comforting ring that wrapped
around the heart like a warm blanket.
Each night during the Christmas season, Holly
drifted across the sky with her glowing lantern. It was not an ordinary
lantern. It was a Wish Lantern, made by Santa himself, created to hold the
hopes and dreams of children. The lantern shimmered with golden light and
opened only to a heart pure enough to carry the weight of Christmas wishes.
Holly Bell had such a heart.
One evening, as Christmas Eve drew near, the
Wish Lantern glowed brighter than usual. The world below hummed with
excitement. Children were writing letters, hanging stockings, baking cookies,
and making wishes with bright eyes and hopeful hearts.
Holly fluttered beside the lantern and
whispered, “Tonight I will collect each wish with care. Every dream matters.”
She drifted down over snowy rooftops and
quiet towns. Through glowing windows, she listened. Some children wished for
toys. Some wished for snow. Some wished for time with family. And some wished
for things that pulled at her gentle heart, like friendship, courage, or peace
at home.
With every wish she heard, Holly opened her
lantern, and a soft golden glow pulled the dream safely inside. The lantern
grew warmer as the wishes filled it. It was warm, so pure it felt like
kindness made into light.
When her lantern was nearly full, she
fluttered toward the small cottage at the edge of Evergreen Forest. Holly had
visited this home many times. Inside lived a little girl named Clara.
Clara never wished for many things. She never
asked for gifts or sweets or anything for herself. She always wished for
others.
This year, however, Holly felt something
different.
Clara sat beside her small tree, hugging her
knees tightly. Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears.
Holly Bell hovered near the window and
listened.
“Please,” Clara whispered, “I wish my mother
and father could stop arguing. I wish they could smile again. I wish we could
all have Christmas together without being sad.”
Holly’s heart trembled. This was not a wish
she could wrap with ribbon or place under a tree. It was tender and fragile,
like a snowflake that could break with the slightest breath.
She opened her lantern, and Clara’s wish
drifted inside with a soft glow. It joined the other wishes, but its light
pulsed gently, as if asking for help.
Holly settled on a snowy branch nearby,
thinking deeply. She wanted to deliver every wish to Santa, but some wishes
needed more than a simple gift. Some needed love and understanding.
And that is when Holly heard a quiet voice.
“Holly Bell,” the North Star whispered above
her, “do not be sad. Your job is to carry wishes, but it is also to bring hope.
Where a child wishes for love, your light can help soften hearts.”
Holly looked up, her tiny bell voice chiming
with gratitude.
“Thank you. I will do all I can.”
With renewed courage, she fluttered back into
the sky and returned to Santa’s Village. The elves were rushing about, sorting
wishes and preparing gifts. Santa waited at his grand desk, his eyes kind and
gentle.
“Holly Bell,” Santa said with a smile, “you
have returned. How full is your lantern tonight?”
Holly opened it slowly. The warm golden glow
filled the room and sparkled like stars in the air. Santa closed his eyes,
listening to the silent chorus of dreams.
When he opened them again, he looked at Holly
with gentle concern.
“There is one wish that weighs heavily, is
there not?” Santa asked.
Holly nodded. “Clara’s wish. It is not a gift
wish. It is a heartfelt wish.”
Santa placed a hand on her tiny lantern.
“Heart wishes are the most powerful of all. They do not change things by magic
alone. They help guide hearts that have forgotten how to listen.”
Holly’s wings shimmered. “What can I do?”
“Shine, Holly Bell,” Santa said softly.
“Shine where your light is needed most.”
Holly understood. She fluttered back to
Clara’s cottage. The night was quiet. Snow fell gently. Through the window,
Clara’s parents sat on opposite sides of the room, their faces tired and sad.
Hovering above the roof, Holly opened her
lantern just a little. A warm golden glow drifted through the chimney like a
soft breath of hope.
The light settled over Clara’s parents. It
wrapped them in the warmth of their daughter’s wish. The glow reminded them of
laughter shared long ago, of promises made, of hands once held.
Slowly, they looked at each other.
“I miss us,” Clara’s father whispered.
“So do I,” her mother replied.
They reached for each other’s hands, and the
warmth between them grew brighter.
Clara peeked from the hallway and gasped
softly when she saw them together. Holly Bell chimed a tiny note of joy.
In that moment, Clara’s wish took root.
Not with magic.
Not with force.
But with a gentle reminder of love.
Holly’s lantern glowed brighter than ever
before.
The next morning, Clara woke to the sound of
laughter downstairs. Her family was together again. Smiling. Talking. Holding
each other close.
Holly watched from outside the window, her
heart full.
She whispered, “Every wish matters.”
And she flew back into the sky, ready to
collect the next dream whispered into the night.
Holly Bell’s Christmas Poem:
A tiny bell with wings of light,
She gathers dreams throughout the night.
Each whispered wish she holds with care,
And fills the sky with love to share.
Her lantern glows with gentle cheer.
For every heart she draws so near,
A helper, small but brave and true,
Who brings hope’s light to you and me.
Discussion Questions for Children
and Parents:
1. Clara made a wish from her heart instead of wishing
for toys or gifts. Have you ever wished for something to help another person?
2. Holly Bell brought hope by shining her gentle light.
How can you bring hope or comfort to someone in your own family?
3. Why is listening carefully to others such an
important part of helping them feel loved?
