Leo the Lion Finds His Courage
Moral of the Story:
Courage is not about
never feeling afraid, but about choosing to move forward even when you are
scared, because when you face your fears with determination and belief in
yourself, you discover a strength inside you that helps you grow, succeed, and
become braver each day.
In a wide and golden
savanna, where the sun rose brightly over the horizon and the tall grass swayed
in the warm breeze, there lived a young lion named Leo.
Leo had a soft golden
coat, bright eyes, and a gentle heart.
Everyone in the
savanna believed that lions were brave.
Strong.
Fearless.
Confident.
But Leo had a secret.
He was afraid.
Not afraid all the
time.
But afraid of certain
things.
He was afraid of loud
noises.
He was afraid of
trying new things.
And most of all…
He was afraid of
failing.
One morning, Leo stood
near a large rock, watching the other animals explore a new part of the
savanna.
“There’s a big hill
over there,” Ricky the Rabbit said excitedly. “You can climb to the top and see
everything!”
Penny the Penguin
flapped her flippers.
“It’s beautiful!” she said. “You can see the whole world from up there!”
Leo looked toward the
hill.
It was tall.
Steep.
And unfamiliar.
“I think I’ll stay
here,” Leo said quietly.
“Why?” Ricky asked.
Leo hesitated.
“I… I just don’t feel
like going,” he said.
But the truth was…
He was scared.
Later that day, Leo
sat alone near a tree.
He watched as the
other animals returned, smiling and laughing.
“It was amazing!”
Daisy the Deer said.
“You should have come!” added Tommy the Turtle.
Leo smiled, but
inside…
He felt something
else.
He felt like he had
missed out.
“I wish I had gone,”
he thought.
Just then, Katie the
Koala climbed down from a branch above him.
“Hi Leo,” she said
gently. “You seem quiet.”
Leo looked up.
“I wanted to go up the
hill,” he said. “But I was too afraid.”
Katie nodded.
“That happens
sometimes,” she said.
Leo looked confused.
“It does?” he asked.
“Yes,” Katie said.
“Everyone feels afraid at times.”
Leo blinked.
“Even you?” he asked.
Katie smiled.
“Even me,” she said.
Leo thought about
that.
“If everyone feels
afraid,” he said, “then how do they do things anyway?”
Katie sat beside him.
“They choose courage,”
she said.
Leo tilted his head.
“What does that mean?”
he asked.
“It means you take a
step forward, even when you feel scared,” she explained.
Leo looked toward the
hill again.
His heart started to
beat faster just thinking about it.
“That sounds hard,” he
said.
Katie nodded.
“It is,” she said.
“But it gets easier each time you try.”
Leo sat quietly for a
moment.
Then he stood up.
“I want to try,” he
said.
The next morning, Leo
walked toward the hill.
Each step felt heavy.
The closer he got, the
taller the hill seemed.
His heart beat faster.
“What if I can’t do
it?” he thought.
“What if I fall?”
“What if I fail?”
He almost turned
around.
But then he remembered
what Katie said.
Take a step forward.
Leo took a deep
breath.
He placed one paw in
front of the other.
Step by step.
Slowly.
Carefully.
He climbed.
Halfway up the hill,
Leo stopped.
“I can’t do this,” he
said softly.
But then…
He looked down.
He had already come so
far.
“I didn’t stop
before,” he said. “I won’t stop now.”
He took another step.
And another.
And another.
Until finally…
Leo reached the top.
He stood there,
looking out across the savanna.
The view was
incredible.
He could see the
trees, the river, the animals, and the endless horizon.
Leo smiled.
“I did it,” he said.
His fear hadn’t
disappeared.
But something else had
grown stronger.
His courage.
Later that day, Leo
returned to his friends.
“I climbed the hill,”
he said proudly.
Ricky jumped with
excitement.
“That’s amazing!” he said.
Penny smiled.
“I knew you could do it,” she said.
Leo stood tall.
“I was scared,” he
admitted. “But I did it anyway.”
Katie smiled from
nearby.
“That is courage,” she
said.
From that day on, Leo still
felt afraid sometimes.
But now, he knew what
to do.
He took a step
forward.
And each time he did…
He became a little
braver.
When you choose to
face your fears instead of avoiding them, you build courage within yourself,
and by taking small steps forward even when you feel uncertain, you grow
stronger, more confident, and ready to take on new challenges.
