If You Want to Shine, Put in the Work
Believe
in Yourself. Practice With Purpose. Keep Getting Better.

You want to win? You want to be the
best? You want to become a superstar?
Then understand this: Wishing for
success will never replace working for it.
Talent can give you a beginning.
Your habits determine what you do with it. If you want to excel in sports,
music, school, or any other pursuit, you have to put in the time, energy, and
effort to improve.
Make improvement part of your
lifestyle.
Practice when you would rather play.
Prepare when you would rather put things off. Pay attention when someone
teaches you. Work on the skills you struggle with instead of only showing off
the ones you already do well.
Ask yourself, “Am I putting in the
effort that my goal requires?”
Train
Your Mind, Too
Confidence grows when you keep
promises to yourself.
Every purposeful practice session
gives you evidence that you are preparing. Every correction you accept gives
you another opportunity to improve.
Tell yourself: “I belong here. I am
willing to learn. I can get better.”
You can aim to outperform everyone
in the competition while respecting every person in it. Believe in your ability
without assuming you have nothing left to learn.
The strongest competitors listen,
adjust, and keep growing.
You
Will Lose Sometimes. Keep Going.
You will miss shots. You will make
mistakes. Someone will outperform you. You may work hard and still fall short.
That does not make your effort
worthless.
Look honestly at what happened. Ask
for feedback. Identify what needs work. Then return with a plan.
A loss is a result, not your
identity.
You cannot guarantee first place
every time. You can keep becoming more skilled, more prepared, and more
resilient.
Build
Habits You Can Keep
Show up consistently. Practice with
focus. Choose a specific skill to improve. Take coaching seriously.
Give yourself time to rest, sleep,
and enjoy life, too. Sustainable effort gives you the chance to keep improving
over time.
Success asks for patience as well as
determination. Progress may be slow enough that you barely notice it until you
look back.
Keep going.
Your dream deserves more than an
occasional burst of excitement. It deserves daily action.
Believe in yourself enough to begin.
Be disciplined enough to practice. Be humble enough to learn. Be determined
enough to return after a setback.
You want to shine?
Put in the work that helps you grow.
