Larry the Lobster Learns to Tell the Truth
Lesson:
Honesty
Moral
of the Story:
Honesty means telling the truth even
when it feels difficult, uncomfortable, or scary to do so. Trust grows stronger
when children choose honesty and take responsibility for their actions and
mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes, but truthful hearts try to make
things right instead of hiding what happened. Small lies often create bigger
problems that can hurt friendships and make hearts feel heavy inside. Honest
children help others feel safe, respected, and able to trust them completely. Just
like Larry the Lobster learned beneath the sea, honesty helps friendships grow
stronger and allows hearts to feel peaceful and proud.
Deep beneath the sparkling ocean
waves, where colorful coral reefs stretched across the sandy sea floor and
schools of tiny silver fish danced through the currents, lived a young lobster
named Larry.
Larry was cheerful.
Funny.
And always full of energy.
He loved racing through seaweed
tunnels.
He loved building shell castles
beside the reef.
And he especially loved making the
other sea creatures laugh.
But Larry had one problem.
Whenever he made mistakes, he
sometimes became afraid to admit them.
One sunny morning, Benny the Blue
Crab proudly showed everyone his newest creation.
A giant shell lighthouse.
It stood tall beside the coral reef.
Tiny glowing shells sparkled along
the sides.
Beautiful sea glass shimmered
beneath the sunlight.
“It is incredible!” Daisy the
Dolphin exclaimed.
Benny smiled proudly.
“I worked on it all week.”
The sea creatures carefully admired
the beautiful lighthouse.
“Please be gentle around it,” Benny
reminded kindly.
Larry nodded quickly.
But a few moments later, Larry
became excited, chasing bubble trails through the reef.
Zoom!
Spin!
Splash!
Larry darted quickly between coral
rock,s laughing happily.
But suddenly—
CRASH!
Larry accidentally slammed directly
into the shell lighthouse.
The entire tower toppled over.
Shells scattered across the sandy
ocean floor.
Sea glass rolled everywhere.
Larry froze in horror.
“Oh no.”
His little heart pounded nervously.
What would Benny say?
Would everyone become upset with
him?
Quickly, Larry hid behind a coral
rock as Benny returned.
“My lighthouse!” Benny gasped sadly.
The sea creatures gathered around
quietly.
“What happened?” Sammy the Seahorse
asked.
Larry peeked nervously from behind
the coral.
Part of him wanted to tell the truth
immediately.
But another part felt frightened.
Maybe nobody would know it was him.
So Larry stayed silent.
Later that afternoon, Benny sadly
tried rebuilding the lighthouse by himself.
Larry watched quietly from across
the reef.
The heavy guilty feeling inside his
heart kept growing bigger and bigger.
Even when the sea creatures played
games later that evening, Larry could not enjoy himself.
He felt terrible.
Very terrible.
Tina the Sea Turtle slowly swam
beside him.
“You seem troubled,” Tina said
gently.
Larry looked down quietly.
“I accidentally knocked over Benny’s
lighthouse.”
Tina nodded softly.
“Did you tell him?”
Larry shook his head sadly.
“I was too scared.”
Tina smiled kindly.
“Sometimes honesty feels difficult
at first. But hiding the truth often makes our hearts feel heavier.”
Larry thought carefully about her
words.
Deep inside, he knew she was right.
The next morning, Larry slowly swam
toward Benny.
His claws trembled nervously.
“I need to tell you something,”
Larry whispered softly.
Benny looked up.
Larry took a deep breath.
“I accidentally knocked over your
lighthouse yesterday.”
Benny blinked in surprise.
“You did?”
Larry nodded sadly.
“I was racing too fast. And then I
became scared to admit it.”
For a moment, Benny stayed quiet.
Then he sighed softly.
“I wish you had told me sooner.”
Larry looked down.
“I know. I am really sorry.”
Then Benny smiled gently.
“Thank you for finally telling the
truth.”
Larry blinked in surprise.
“You are not angry?”
Benny chuckled softly.
“I am disappointed the lighthouse
broke. But I am proud you chose honesty.”
Soon, the other sea creatures
gathered to help rebuild the lighthouse together.
Walter carried large shells.
Pearl found glowing sea glass.
Daisy cleaned the coral pathways.
And Larry worked harder than anyone
else.
By sunset, the shell lighthouse
stood proudly beside the reef once again.
It looked even more beautiful than
before.
That evening, Benny smiled warmly at
Larry.
“You helped make things right.”
Larry smiled peacefully.
For the first time in days, the
heavy guilty feeling inside his heart finally disappeared.
Tina slowly swam beside him.
“You learned something important
today,” she said gently.
Larry nodded softly.
“Honesty feels much better than
hiding mistakes.”
Tina smiled wisely.
“Truthful hearts grow strong and
trustworthy.”
As moonlight shimmered softly
through the ocean water that night, Larry drifted peacefully to sleep, knowing
that honesty had helped restore both the lighthouse and his friendship.
And deep beneath the sparkling sea,
Larry’s truthful heart glowed brighter than every shell in the reef.
Moral
of the Story Poem:
Truthful hearts feel calm inside,
Because they never need to hide.
Mistakes may happen every day,
But honesty helps guide the way.
Strong friendships grow when truth is shared,
And loving hearts show that they cared.
Like Larry glowing beneath the sea,
Honesty helps hearts stay free.
