Ellie the Elephant Meets Her Baby Brother

Moral
to the Story:
When a new baby arrives, it’s normal
to feel unsure or even a little scared. You might wonder if everything will change or if there’s still enough love for
you. But love doesn’t shrink when it’s shared—it grows stronger and stretches
farther. Even though the baby is tiny, your heart will feel something big. You’ll see how special it is to be a big brother or big sister. A new baby brings giggles, snuggles, and someone who thinks the world of you. You’ll be their helper, their comfort, and their hero from the very beginning. And the moment you meet them, you might just fall in love.
The sun rose gently over the grassy
hilltops as Ellie the Elephant peeked out from her room in the family
grove. Something felt different.
The tree leaves rustled softly. The
birds were quieter than usual. And Mama and Papa hadn’t come to wake her yet.
Suddenly, Papa appeared in the
doorway with the biggest smile Ellie had ever seen.
“Ellie,” he said quietly, “your baby
brother is here.”
Ellie’s ears perked up, but her
heart fluttered like a butterfly in her chest.
“He’s here?” she whispered.
“Already?”
“Yes,” Papa nodded. “Would you like
to meet him?”
Ellie nodded slowly, but inside, she
wasn’t sure.
What if he cries a lot?
What if Mama and Papa don’t have time for me anymore?
What if he’s cuter than me?
What if I don’t like him?
She followed Papa down the soft dirt
path to a shady corner of the grove. There, beneath the banana trees, lay Mama
Elephant—her eyes glowing.
Nestled against her side was the
tiniest elephant Ellie had ever seen. His ears were still wrinkled. His trunk
was short. His tail wiggled like a noodle.
“Ellie,” Mama whispered, “come meet
your baby brother.”
Ellie took a step closer. Then
another. Her little elephant heart beat faster.
She looked at the baby… and the baby
opened his eyes.
Big, blinking, beautiful brown eyes.
And in that moment—Ellie melted.
“He’s so… little,” she whispered.
“He’s your little brother,” Mama
said softly.
“He’s perfect,” Ellie breathed,
sitting down gently beside him.
The baby wiggled and gave a tiny
squeaky yawn.
“Can I touch him?” Ellie asked.
“With your softest touch,” Mama
said.
Ellie reached out her trunk and let
it gently wrap around her brother’s. He let out a teeny-tiny trumpet noise that
made them all laugh.
“I think he already loves you,” Papa
smiled.
Ellie’s eyes filled with happy
tears.
“I love him too,” she whispered.
From that day on, Ellie was the
proudest big sister in the entire savanna. She brought him flower petals and
soft leaves. She sang to him at naptime and whispered stories into his big
floppy ears.
And every time someone came to
visit, Ellie was the first to shout, “Come meet my baby brother!”
Because even though she was a little
nervous at first… the moment she saw him, her heart opened wide.
And in that quiet moment, Ellie
discovered:
Love doesn’t divide. It multiplies.
Moral
to the Story Poem:
A baby comes, so small and new,
And suddenly your heart feels two.
One for you, and one to share,
A bond so big, beyond compare.
It’s okay to wonder, pause, and wait—
But love will open up the gate.
You’ll smile and say, with joyful cheer,
“My baby sibling’s finally here!”
