help them achieve their dreams.
Step 2: Brainstorming Goals (10 minutes)
·
Gather the children
together and ask them to brainstorm their goals for the upcoming year. These
can be academic, personal, or anything they aspire to achieve.
·
Encourage them to think
big and use their imagination. Write down their goals on a piece of paper.
Step 3: Goal Visualization (15 minutes)
·
Give each child a large
sheet of paper or poster board.
·
On the top of the paper,
write "I can" in big letters, and at the bottom, write "I
will."
·
Have the children draw a
colorful treasure map or vision board on the paper, using markers, crayons,
stickers, glitter, or other decorative materials. They can include images,
symbols, and drawings related to their goals.
·
Ask them to be creative
and make their maps visually appealing.
Step 4: Goal Setting (10 minutes)
·
Go around the room and
have each child share their goals and explain what they've included on their
treasure map.
·
Discuss why each goal is
essential to them and how they plan to achieve it.
Step 5: Treasure Hunt (15 minutes)
·
Explain that their
treasure maps are like a roadmap to their dreams.
·
Have them imagine that
they are on a treasure hunt to achieve their goals.
·
Ask them to come up with
one action they can take immediately (today or this week) to move closer to
their goals.
·
Write down these actions
on the treasure maps next to their corresponding goals.
Step 6: Display and Commitment (10 minutes)
·
Allow the children to
decorate and personalize their treasure maps further if they wish.
·
Once they're done, hang
or display the maps in a prominent place in their rooms.
·
Encourage them to read
their goals and action steps aloud every morning and night as part of their
daily routine.
Step 7: Celebrate Progress (Ongoing)
·
Throughout the year, periodically
review their treasure maps and discuss the progress they've made toward their
goals.
·
Celebrate their
achievements and encourage them to adjust their action steps or add new goals
as needed.
Step 8: Share and Support (Ongoing)
·
Foster a supportive
environment where children can share their challenges and successes with you
and their siblings.
·
Offer guidance,
encouragement, and motivation to help them stay on track and maintain their
"I can – I will" mindset.
By engaging in this creative treasure map activity, children of
all ages can have a tangible representation of their goals and aspirations.
This exercise not only makes goal setting fun but also instills the idea that
with determination and a clear vision, they can achieve anything they set their
minds to.
