George the Grateful Goat
In a sunny mountain meadow filled with
daisies, buzzing bees, and fluttering butterflies lived a cheerful little goat
named George. George had soft white fur, bright eyes, and a heart full of joy.
He lived with his family near a bubbling stream, where the grass was always
green and the air smelled sweet.
George was not the biggest goat or the
fastest, but he had something very special—he was always grateful. Whether it
was sunny, rainy, warm, or chilly, George would say, "Thank You, God, for
this day!" every single morning.
George’s mama often said, "George, you
have a thankful heart, and that makes you shine." George would smile and
say, "It’s easy to be thankful when there’s so much to love!"
Each day, George would skip through the
meadow, wagging his little tail and singing songs. His favorite one went like
this:
"Thank you, thank you, for the sun, For
the grass and for the fun! Thank You, thank You, for the sky, For the
butterflies that fly high!"
One day, the sky turned gray, and the wind
began to blow. Big clouds rolled in, and soon the rain began to pour. All the
animals hurried to find shelter.
George and his friend, Millie the Mous, ran
into a hollow tree.
"Oh no," said Millie, "our
picnic is ruined!"
George looked out at the rain and smiled.
"It’s just water from the sky. The flowers and trees need a drink, too. And
guess what? We have a cozy place to hide and time to talk. Isn’t that a
gift?"
Millie blinked. "I hadn’t thought of it
like that."
George nodded. "Even rainy days can be
happy days if we find things to be thankful for."
The next morning, the rain had stopped, but
the stream had risen and covered the path to the tall grass where the goats
usually played. Some of the little goats groaned.
"Now we can’t go to our favorite
hill!"
George trotted up and said, "Let’s find
a new spot today. Maybe there’s something wonderful we haven’t discovered
yet."
They followed George to a new patch of grass
by a large tree, where the sun shone through the branches. Birds sang, and
butterflies danced in the air.
"Wow!" said the others. "This
place is magical!"
George grinned. "See? Sometimes change
brings something even better."
Later that week, something very sad happened.
George tripped on a stone and hurt his leg. The doctor duck said, "You
need to rest for a few days, no running or jumping."
George lay quietly under the tree, watching
the other goats play. He felt a little sad.
Millie came by and brought him flowers. Benny
the Bunny shared his carrot cake. Even the baby chicks came to sing a song.
George smiled. "I may not be able to run
today, but look at all this love around me. I am one thankful goat."
As the days passed, George’s leg healed, and
he was soon hopping and skipping again. But something had changed—his joy and
thankfulness had spread to everyone around him.
When the clouds gathered again, the animals
didn’t groan. They looked for the rainbow. When the path was blocked, they
searched for new trails. When someone felt down, they sang George’s song.
One afternoon, Mama Goat gathered all the
animals. "George has reminded us that being thankful brings joy. Gratitude
is like sunshine—it warms every heart it touches."
George blushed and said, "I’m just happy
to be me. Every day is a gift from God, and I never want to forget to say thank
you."
That night, as the stars sparkled in the sky,
George stood by the stream and whispered, "Thank You, God, for the grass,
the flowers, my friends, and my family. Thank you for rainy days, sunny days,
and even the days that are hard."
He closed his eyes and smiled. His heart felt
full.
Moral of the Story: Let gratitude and joy be continually on your tongue.
When you choose to be thankful, no matter what kind of day it is, you bring
light and happiness to yourself and everyone around you. A grateful heart turns
ordinary moments into extraordinary blessings.
