Restaurant review of Cap's Restaurant in St. Augustine, Florida.
Disappointing Experience with Pecan-Crusted Chicken at Cap's on the Water restaurant in St. Augustine, Florida.
I recently dined at Cap's on the Water, drawn by its reputation for waterfront dining and a menu that blends Southern and Mediterranean flavors. While the setting was undeniably picturesque, my experience with the Pecan-Crusted Chicken was far from satisfactory. St. Augustine, FL The dish, described as featuring wok-fried Brussels sprouts, fingerling potatoes, frizzled onions, and a citrus brown butter sauce, sounded promising. However, the chicken was overcooked to the point of being nearly inedible, rendering it dry and tough. The pecan crust, which I anticipated would add a nutty flavor and crunchy texture, was virtually tasteless and did little to enhance the dish. Given the restaurant's emphasis on quality ingredients and culinary expertise, this dish was a significant letdown. While other patrons have praised Cap's for its seafood offerings and ambiance, my experience suggests that not all menu items meet the same standard. If you choose to dine at Cap's on the Water, you might consider exploring their seafood options, which seem to be the highlight for many guests. However, based on my experience, I would advise against ordering the Pecan-Crusted Chicken.
