Leo the Llama and the Garden of Friendship
In a bright and beautiful valley, where
wildflowers bloomed and the rivers sparkled, lived a fluffy llama named Leo.
Leo was friendly and full of energy, always running through the fields and
playing with his best friend, Ellie the Elephant.
Ellie was wise and strong. She always helped
Leo when he needed it. If Leo couldn’t reach a juicy apple from a tree, Ellie
would use her long trunk to pick it for him. If he got stuck in a muddy patch
after a rainy day, Ellie would pull him out. And when he felt lonely, Ellie
would sit beside him and tell wonderful stories of faraway lands.
But as time passed, Leo got so used to
Ellie’s kindness that he forgot to say thank you. He expected her to always be
there, helping him without hesitation.
One afternoon, Leo wanted to explore a big
hill at the edge of the valley. “Ellie, come with me!” he called.
Ellie sighed. “Leo, I love helping you, but
you never say thank you. Friendship isn’t just about taking—it’s about giving,
too.”
Leo blinked in surprise. “But we’re best friends!
You don’t need a thank you.”
Ellie shook her head sadly. “Even best
friends need appreciation, Leo.” And with that, Ellie walked away, leaving Leo
standing alone.
At first, Leo didn’t think much of it. “Ellie
will come around,” he told himself. But as the days went by, Ellie no longer
picked apples for him. She didn’t help him when he got stuck in the mud. She
didn’t tell stories at night.
Leo felt lost without his friend. He sat in
the valley, watching Ellie from afar, realizing how much he had taken her
kindness for granted.
Then, an idea blossomed in his mind. He
needed to show Ellie that he cared.
Leo spent days collecting the most beautiful
flowers from the valley—daisies, sunflowers, and bright red poppies. He
arranged them in a big, colorful heart in Ellie’s favorite clearing. Then, he
placed a pile of the juiciest apples in the center.
When everything was ready, Leo called out,
“Ellie! Please come see!”
Curious, Ellie walked into the clearing and
gasped. “Leo… did you do all this?”
Leo nodded. “I’m so sorry, Ellie. I was
selfish. You always helped me, but I never showed you how much I appreciate
you. Friendship is like a garden—it needs care and attention to grow. I want to
take care of our friendship, just like you always take care of me.”
Ellie’s eyes twinkled, and she smiled.
“That’s all I ever wanted, Leo.”
From that day forward, Leo made sure to
always say thank you. He helped Ellie when she needed it, listened to her
stories, and never took her kindness for granted again. Their friendship grew
stronger, just like the beautiful garden they created together.
Moral of the Story: Friendship is like a garden—it needs care and
attention to grow. Never take the kindness of others for granted, and always
show appreciation to the people who support you.
