Tilly the Bunny Takes Care
Moral
of the Story:
Your body is a gift from God—a place
where His love can live and grow. When you eat well, rest, play gently, and
think kind thoughts, you are honoring that gift. Treat your body like the
treasure it is, and let your heart shine bright with joy, health, and love.
In a sunny meadow filled with
daisies, butterflies, and the gentle hum of bees lived a fluffy, bouncy bunny
named Tilly.
Tilly had soft white fur, a twitchy
pink nose, and long ears that flopped when she hopped. She loved to play in the
grass, chase leaves, and wiggle through flower patches. But most of all, Tilly
loved to run—fast and free through the fields!
One morning, Mama Bunny called,
“Tilly! Time for breakfast!”
Tilly wiggled her nose. “Do I have
to eat the green stuff? I only want sweet strawberries!”
Mama smiled and placed a plate of
carrots, spinach, berries, and nuts in front of her. “You need all kinds of
good food to grow strong and stay healthy, not just sweets.”
Tilly sighed but gave the crunchy
carrot a nibble, munched on a leaf, and finished with her favorite
strawberries.
Mama gently said, “God gave you a
very special body, Tilly. The Bible tells us to treat our bodies like a
temple—a beautiful place for His Spirit to live.”
Tilly tilted her head. “Like a
church?”
Mama nodded. “Yes, sweetheart. Just
like we care for special places, we should take care of ourselves, too. That
means eating good food, resting, playing gently, and thinking kind thoughts.”
Tilly bounced a little. “Then I want
to take care of my bunny-body-temple!”
Later that day, while hopping
through the meadow, Tilly saw her friend Benny the Bird flapping slowly.
“You okay, Benny?” she asked.
Benny puffed. “I’m tired. I skipped
breakfast and stayed up late.”
Tilly tilted her head. “Oh no! Your
body needs food and sleep to feel good.”
“Really?” Benny asked.
“Yes! Mama says our bodies need
fuel—like a car. Good food, sleep, and rest help us move, think, and play.”
Benny promised to do better, and
Tilly felt proud of sharing something important.
That afternoon, Tilly ran into her
squirrel friend Max. He was doing cartwheels and spinning around and around.
“Wanna play tag, Tilly?” Max called.
“Sure!” she giggled. But after a
while, she stopped to drink water from a leaf cup.
Max kept going and going. “You’re
resting already?”
Tilly nodded. “Mama says rest is
part of taking care of myself.”
Max flopped beside her. “Whew. Maybe
your mama is right.”
Tilly smiled. “And being healthy
isn’t just about running and eating. It’s about how we feel, too. Mama says when
we’re upset, we can stop, breathe, and talk to God.”
“You pray, too?” Max asked.
“Every day!” Tilly chirped. “Even a
short one like:
‘Thank You, God, for my strong legs and my happy heart. Help me stay kind
and healthy. Amen.’”
Max closed his eyes and whispered
the same prayer. “That felt nice.”
Later, while picking flowers, Tilly
saw her old friend Sage the Tortoise sitting under a tree.
“Hi Sage!” Tilly called, hopping
over.
Sage smiled slowly. “Hello, little
bunny. You look happy.”
“I am!” she beamed. “I’m learning
how to care for my body the way God wants me to.”
Sage nodded. “That’s wise. The Bible
says in 1 Corinthians 6:19 (NIV):
‘Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in
you, whom you have received from God?’”
Tilly’s ears perked up. “That’s what
Mama said, too!”
Sage chuckled. “Then you’re learning
something important. Being healthy is more than being fast. It’s being kind to
your body, your mind, and your heart.”
Tilly nodded. “And I want to help my
friends take care of theirs, too!”
That evening, back at the burrow,
Tilly told Mama all about her day—helping Benny, talking with Max, and visiting
Sage.
“You’re not just taking care of your
body,” Mama said. “You’re helping others care for theirs, too.”
Tilly smiled and whispered a little
prayer, “Dear God, thank You for my body. Help me use it for good things. Help
me eat smart, play nice, and love others well.”
As the stars came out and the meadow
got quiet, Tilly snuggled into her cozy nest and dreamed sweet dreams.
The
Next Morning...
Tilly woke up early, stretched her
legs, and made her bed. Then she packed a basket of healthy snacks and skipped
off to meet her friends.
“Let’s go on a Healthy Bunny Walk!”
she announced.
Benny the Bird, Max the Squirrel,
and even Sage the Tortoise joined. They walked slowly, breathing deeply,
stopping to drink water and pick berries.
They laughed, played, and even did
some stretching under the tall oak tree.
At the end of the walk, they sat in
a circle, munching on carrots and nuts.
“This is fun,” Max said. “And I feel
good, too.”
“That’s the best part,” Tilly said,
“when we take care of our bodies, we feel happy, strong, and full of energy!”
Then, Benny asked, “What else can we
do to be healthy?”
Tilly thought for a moment. “We can
rest when we’re tired, say kind words, and pray when we need help. God is
always listening.”
Sage smiled. “And when we make
mistakes, we just start again the next day.”
Everyone nodded.
And that day, in the sunny meadow,
the little animals all promised to care for their bodies because they were
special, strong, and made by God.
