A Christmas Family Keepsake Reading
The Gift That Changed Everything
Christmas Reading for Families
Scripture Reading
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Acts 20:35
It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Family Reading
Before we open gifts.
Before we celebrate our traditions, we take a moment to reflect.
Before we focus on what we will receive, we pause to remember what has been
given to us.
We pause to remember what was given.
Long ago, on a quiet night, God looked upon
the world with love. He saw our need. He saw our weakness. He saw our longing
for hope. And because God loved the world, He gave.
He gave His Son.
Jesus was born humbly, not in a palace, but
in a manger. Heaven’s greatest gift entered the world quietly, wrapped in love
and promise. God did not provide something small. He gave everything.
The Bible tells us that every beneficial and
perfect gift comes from God. Christmas reminds us that love is not something
God merely speaks. Love is something God does.
Jesus later taught us that it is more blessed
to give than to receive. This truth changes how we live. True joy does not come
from what we hold onto, but from what we freely share.
At Christmas, we remember that love is shown
through action.
We demonstrate our love through acts of kindness.
We demonstrate love through the sharing of time.
Through the compassion offered,
Through service done quietly.
When we love others, we reflect God’s heart.
When we contribute, we follow Jesus.
When we serve, we honor the greatest gift ever given.
Tonight and every Christmas, we offer thanks.
We thank God for Jesus.
We thank God for our family.
We thank God for the love we share.
May our home be filled with peace.
May our hearts be filled with gratitude.
May our lives be filled with generosity.
And may we always remember that the greatest
gift we will ever receive is Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Family Prayer
Dear God,
Thank you for loving us so much that you gave us Jesus.
Thank you to our family and the love we share.
Help us to be kind, generous, and thoughtful.
Teach us to love our neighbors and honor you in all we do.
May our home reflect your love today and always.
We celebrate Jesus this Christmas and every day.
Amen.
