Institute of weight loss center

Institute of weight loss center

This would be an institute which offered superior weight management control for those seeking an alternate but effective weight management program.

This would be an inpatient institution dedicated to effectively altering a person’s weight management ideals, behaviors and habits.

This would be an in house program similar to the prison diet I referred to early in my writing.

First I would need to find a facility which had rooms similar to a Motel Six bedroom where two or more people could stay in the room.

The room would be able to be opened or locked from the outside.

Once the patient was locked in they would have an intercom button they could press in case of a medical emergency.

The room would be sparse, a couple, three beds per room, extra if they did not want a roommate.

They could not choose their roommate.

It would have a small locker, a small table to write on, a couple of chairs, potential a closet.

A bathroom, similar to a regular motel bathroom.

Bars would need to be placed over the windows; the windows would have to be secured.

The patient would be provided basic toiletries, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, shaving cream and Bic shaver.

They would be provided basic bedding which would be changed out weekly.

They would be responsible for keeping their room clean, their bed made and their lockers or closet in order.

Beds would need to be made by 6:30 M-F and 10:30 Saturday and Sunday.

Several changes of clothes would be provided.

Laundry would be done once a week, laundry bags would be supplied.

Sheets would be exchanged out once a week, blankets once a month.

The facility would have some kind of recreational facility with weights, a TV to do aerobics, bikes, Stairmasters, etc. a mini health facility or gym.

Ideally there would be some place for these people to walk or run, hopefully within the facility.

Games would be supplied and checked out like cards, chess, checkers, dominos, and board games.

There would be at least one TV room if not two or three.

There would be a commons area where the food was served and where the patients hung out to play games and talk.

Each person would be required to do some kind of physical exercise 1-2 hours per day.

They would be fed three meals per day at 6:00 a.m., 10:45 a.m., and 4:40 p.m.

There would be no food between meals, no alcohol, no pop, Kool-Aid, only water to drink which could be consumed up to 96 ounces per day.

A person would get 8 chits per day with their name on them or a card you would punch, they would be allowed up to 12 – 8 ounce glasses of water per day.

They would receive three balanced meals per day not to exceed 2000 calories.

They would have to eat what was served and not share food.

There would be no seconds on food.

They could only drink one glass of water per meal.

Patients would be locked in their room from 10:00 p.m. – 5:30 a.m., from 9:50 a.m. until 10:40 a.m., and from 4:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

This is to help them achieve some discipline in their lives.

There would be several classes offered and required on all kinds of subjects from nutrition, to exercise, our physical bodies, eating for life, drawing, parenting etc.

These would be offered as an alternative to watching TV or playing games.

Each person would have a dedicated program designed specifically for them.

They could also write and receive letters, read books, write in journals; in fact keeping a journal would be necessary part of the program.

They could receive visitors 2 times a week for one hour at a time during designated visiting hours.

The patients would also be responsible for maintaining the facility, they would need to work.

The program would run a minimum of 4 weeks; it takes up to 21 days to develop a habit. It could last up to 3 months depending on the person’s commitment.

A person would pay for 28 days in advance and sign all kinds of disclaimers.

If they left the program they would forfeit their money.

They could not leave the program without considerable counseling.

The goal of the program would be to teach people better eating habits, by educating them and providing them the example they need to start a healthy new you.

I would need to find a facility, an old motel or hotel that I could convert into a weight loss institute.

I would want the people to stay in for the full 28 day period.

I don’t want them hiding food or receiving food from anyone from the outside.

Visits would need to be monitored and patients searched upon return to the facility.

Any violation of this policy could be grounds for expulsion.

Expulsion is the biggest threat I would have for discipline.

I guess the other discipline I would have is to lock them in their room and have their food brought to them.

There would be up to three warnings before a person was sent home.

If a person let the program this way, again there would be no refund of the money.

The goal of the program would be twofold

1. Lose weight, but only as a beginning and

2. Set the person up to successfully eat or properly east once they have left the facility.

As far as actual goals for actual weight loss, I am unfamiliar with how much a person could or should lose in 28 days.

It will be different for every person. I don’t want this to be a picnic, or easy.

I want this to be an environment of discipline, discipline, discipline.

The one thing people who overeat do not have is discipline.

Patients could purchase various items from the store such as radios like Walkman, tennis shoes, toiletries, cigarettes.

Yes people would be allowed to smoke.

I am not trying to curb every addiction, just the one for food.

Smoking would be limited to a single smoking area.

The patients would find themselves with time on their hands and this is good because it would force them to do something other than eat.

Also many people eat out of boredom, inactivity, depression, sadness, and I would want them to fill this time by doing things they were not necessarily accustomed to do.

The in-patient patients would have to agree to all the terms and conditions prior to starting the program.

People would constantly be at various stages of the program; whenever there was room another person would be let in.

Also there would be speakers that would come in, regular church services, Christian and Catholic.

People would be allowed to mail letter and books only.

Cost would depend on the facility but I would want to double my expenses.

So if it cost $1000 per month to house someone, I would charge minimum $2000 per month.

There is certainly a lot more that would have to go into this plan.

I want to put in effect a very strict diet.

I believe it is very important to eat at regular intervals, stop eating early, eat a big breakfast and exercise.

I also think it is important people take time to reflect on their life, take a break from reality, and have someone else do the cooking, have no outside influences in the way of developing new eating habits.

I am unsure as to how the follow up would take place or even if there would be a follow up. Of course while they were in the facility we would take a before picture, strip them of their old clothes, give them new clothes, give them an ID, a physical, psychology intake exam.

We would also need to make sure we had all the first aid material we would need, have nurses and doctors on call, in case of a medical emergency.

We would need to make sure people stayed on their medication which we would distribute to the patient.

Medical monitoring would be very important.

We might need to check people daily for blood pressure, heart beat etc.

This may seem a bit drastic but we would market this to people who are looking for an in-patient treatment facility.

People try all kinds of diets without success.

This is not a diet.

This is a revolution.

Any new way of looking at weight management by taking people out of their normal lifestyle long enough to develop new eating habits.

I must say at this point my arm and my hand are killing me. I can barely hold the pencil. My forearm is very tight and my hand aches and is very stiff.

I wanted to come up with a catch name that is why I used the Grace Kellie Institute, Grace Kelly is or was a well-known person, queen of Monaco. However many young people have no idea who she is. I also like the Four Daughters Institute because I have four daughters. This also sounds as though it is being run by four women, which is great. I wanted a sophisticated name and that is why I liked the Grace Kellie Institute, the superior weight management program.

I love you Lord. Praise be to you Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for this bit of inspiration and thank you for being there in support of my aching hand.

Amen.
