Enjoy
today, live today, give today, find honor today, don’t complain or criticize
today.
I
have absolutely no idea what I am going to write about today.
A
couple of thoughts came to mind
1.
You can’t be right about everything all the time.
2.
Don’t bite off more than you can chew.
3.
Don’t sweat the small stuff.
4.
Don’t worry about things you have no control over.
5.
More is not always better.
As
I was walking this morning, these thoughts crossed my mind.
Also
the concept of time and what a valuable commodity time is.
Time – a continuous
measurable quantity in which events occur in apparently irreversible order. An
interval bounded by two points of this quantity, duration. A numerical measure
of this interval, as in years, days or minutes.
Commodity – something
useful. A transportable item of commerce or trade especially mining or
agricultural product.
There
is an old saying time is money.
Many
professions bill by time, many others calculate the amount of time it takes to
perform a certain task, affix an hourly rate and charge the customer for the
time spent.
The
time I am referring to is life, not billing.
There
are three things that are certain
1.
You are born.
2.
You pay taxes.
3.
You die.
The
average life span of a man is 75 years for a woman 80 years.
There
are 365 days in a year so for a man he is alive an average 27375 days, for a
woman 29500 days.
I
have been alive 16,092 days.
In
Psalms 118:24 – we read this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad
in it. Proverbs 27:1 – Do not boast about tomorrow, you do not know
what a day may bring forth. 2
Corinthians 4:16 – Therefore we do
not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly, we are
being renewed day by day.
I
like what it says in 1 Thessalonians
5:16 – Be joyful always.
That
means in every situation, no matter what is going on the Lord wants us to feel
joy, not pain or sorrow.
While it is
important to set daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, lifetime goals, it
is also important to live for today, for we may never live to see tomorrow.
Regardless
of the situation we are asked by our Heavenly Father to find joy in everything.
We all waste a
lot of time thinking about, worrying about tomorrow.
We don’t live in
the present because we are worried about the past or the future.
Enjoy today,
live today, give today, find honor today, don’t complain or criticize today.
Don’t
fret over the could of, would of, should of's.
It
is fruitless to speculate about what could of happened unless we are attempting
to learn from the situation.
As
the song says “Don't Worry, Be Happy.”
It
is easy to not be happy, to feel fear, uncertainty about the future, but that
speculation only brings on anxiety.
Speculation – to think
deeply, to reflect.
Anxiety – a state of
uneasiness, worry. Abnormal fear that lacks a specific cause.
Each
day we need to commit to being happy regardless of what life has to offer.
You
see with each passing of a day we have one less day to give and one less day to
live why waste any of them?
Lord
I commit to being happy in all situations.
