Fasting,
prayer, revelation, listening, obeying.
When
we pray we need to honor our Heavenly Father, give him the glory, praise and
thank him for answers to our prayer believing already that our prayers will be
answered. The Lord will provide revelation to us, direction, and comfort as
requested or if we are living according to his will for our life. When we
petition our father we need to stop for a moment and listen to his response.
Prayer is not a one way street, we don’t need to communicate to our father
only, and we need to listen to his response. It is important then to pray where
you will have the least number of distractions, close your eyes so as to avoid
outside stimuli, go to a quiet place if one can be found, get on your knees as
a gesture of our father’s magnificence, just as you would bow down and get on
your knees if you were before a king.
When
I pray offer praise and thanksgiving, then offer up your petition and be
willing to listen for a response, you will be guided by the Holy Spirit on what
to pray for. Listen to his voice this to hear his voice, learn to recognize his
voice, learn to understand what it means to you, learn to obey his direction in
response to your prayers, act in accordance to that direction, have faith that
your actions will be done in accordance to his will, all this being said and
done, believe that if you act upon the revelation you receive as an answer to
your prayer that our father in heaven will bring you joy and happiness.
We
receive revelation and guidance throughout the day, divine inspiration and
answers to our prayers throughout the day. This is why our father has asked us
to pray unceasingly all day, giving thanks, praise and glory and offering up
petitions. He will guide and direct us through the Holy Spirit, he will guide
our thoughts, words and deeds if we let him. We need to relinquish the control
we have for our lives and allow Father to direct and counsel us in accordance
to his will, not ours. Only when we are living in accordance to our father’s
will, will we find true and everlasting peace, joy and happiness. Ask and you
shall receive, knock and it shall be open. Matthew
7:7-8 – Ask and it will be given you,
seek and you will find, knock and the door will be open. Now here is the
promise – “Forever one who asks –
receives, he who seeks – finds, and to him who knocks – the door will be open.”
Notice
his choice of words in the promise, ask – receive, seek – find, knock – will
open. No maybes!
Will
be open, he will guide us, counsel us, direct us, inform us, assist us, help us
in all our ways if we just ask, seek and knock.
Trust
the Lord with all your heart, have faith and believe without a shadow of a
doubt and Father will hear, will listen and will provide answers and solutions
to our petitions/requests. Listen for the answer and be willing to obey –
remember all things done in accordance to his will – not ours.
All
of Psalms119. Psalms 119:1-10 – I just opened my bible to this passage and it
speaks directly to what I was just writing about – Walk with the Lord, seek him with all your heart, you will do nothing
wrong if you walk in his ways, fully obey, remain steadfast and obey his
decrees, praise him, as we learn to obey he will not forsake us. Divine
inspiration – divine revelation – divine – it is not in the dictionary or the
bible.
Inspiration – stimulation
of the intellect or emotions to a higher standard. One that moves the intellect
or emotions or prompts action. A sudden creative idea or act. Revelation – an act of revealing.
Something revealed, especially something dramatic. Inspiration, the word is not
in the bible however the word instruct is or instruction.
Proverbs 1:8 – Listen to your father’s instruction and do
not forsake your mother’s teaching. In 4:1
– we are to pay attention and gain understanding. 8:33 – Listen to my
instruction and be wise, do not ignore it. 13:13 – He who scorns instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a
command is rewarded. 19:20 – Listen to advice and accept instruction and
in the end you will be wise.
