Money
- Rich Man
Matthew19:24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to
go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the
kingdom of God.”
Possible
book title “There is no easy way to get
to Heaven, HOWEVER, there is a sure way.”
The
love of money; greed are sure fire ways that will lead to destruction of the
spirit. A house divided cannot serve two masters, choose this day whom you will
serve. Lay up your treasures in heaven where moth and rust will not find them.
How many times must I say open your eyes and see, open your ears and you will
hear. How many times will you disobey as the Israelites of old who wandered for
40 years in the desert before they were given the promise land. Take one day at
a time, don’t worry about tomorrow, it will come soon enough. Pray unceasingly,
ask the Holy Spirit to direct and guide you in your ways today. Obey God’s
commandments or suffer eternal destruction if you do not repent.
Greed
Colossians
3:5-6 – Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your
earthly nature, sexual, immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed
which is idolatry. Because of these the wrath of God is coming. Colossians
3:7-10 – Rid yourselves of these, anger, rage, malice, slander and filthy
language from your lips. Do not lie to each other. What are we called to
do? In Colossians we are taught what to do. Colossians 3:12-17 12 Therefore,
as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear
with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against
someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these
virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let
the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were
called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell
among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through
psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your
hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all
in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
2 Peter 2:13 – Your eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning,
they seduce the unstable, they are experts in greed. Ephesians 5:3 – must not be even a hint
of sexual immorality, or any kind of impurity or greed. Romans 1:29- 31 – They have been filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, depravity.
They are full of envy, insolent, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips,
slanderers, God haters, insolvent, arrogant and boastful, they invent ways of
doing evil, and they disobey their parents.
Money
Matthew 6:24 – No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate
the one and love the other or devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot
serve both God and money.
Treasures on earth passage
Matthew 6:19-21 19 “Do not store up for yourselves
treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in
and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where
moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will
be also.
1 Timothy 3:3 – We are asked not to be a lover of money. 1 Timothy 3:10 – especially 10 for
the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people eager for money have wandered from faith and present
themselves with many griefs. In 2
Timothy 3:2 – we are told how people will act in the last days. Lovers of themselves, lovers of money,
boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
without love, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, not lovers
of good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure, rather than lovers
of God. In Hebrews 13:5 – we are told to keep our lives free from the
love of money and be content with what we have because God has said “Never will
I leave you, never will I forsake you.” In 1 Peter 3:2 – we are told God
wants us to be not greedy for money, but eager to serve.
Take
one day at a time
Psalms 96:2 – We are to proclaim his salvation day after day. Psalms 118:24 – This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
In Luke we hear in the Lord’s Prayer – Luke 11:3 – Give us this day our
daily bread. 1 Corinthians 4:16 – We are being renewed day by day. Choose this day whom you will serve – Joshua 22:5 – Keep his commandments, love the Lord, walk in his ways, obey his
commands, hold fast to him, and serve him with all your heart and soul. Ephesians 6:7 – Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not man because
you know the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does. Joshua 24:15 – Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, but as for me and
my household, we will serve the Lord. Matthew
4:10 – Worship the Lord your God and
serve him only.
Open
your eyes
Psalms 119:18 – Open my eyes that I might see.
Open
your ears
Matthew 11:15 – He who has ears, let him hear. I thought I
knew of a verse that said open your eyes that you may see and your ears so that
you may hear, give God the praise and the glory. How many times must I open my eyes
to see and my ears to hear? How many times must I disobey the commands of my
Lord and turn my back on him? How many times will he forgive me? Choose this
day whom you will serve, as for me and my household we choose to serve the
Lord. Thank you Lord. I am learning a great deal by going through your scriptures.
I don’t want to be like the Israelites of old wandering 40 years in the desert.
Leave tomorrow alone, forget yesterday, for tomorrow will come soon enough.
