What is God's will for us?

 

How do we know what his will is for our life? His will is that we obey his commands, what do his scriptures tell us?

 

First, we must have desire Psalms 40:8 – I desire to do your will, oh God. Psalms 143:10 – Teach me to do your will. In Matthew 6:10 –The Lord's Prayer we submit to his will "Let your will be done; not our will, the Lord's will. Matthew 20:39 – Yet not as I will, but as you will. In John 7:17 – it states, if anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether I speak on my own. Ephesians 5:17 – we are called "Do not be foolish but understand the Lord's will is… 1 Thessalonians 4:3 – It is God's will that you should be sanctified, that you should avoid sexual immorality… Hebrews 10:7 – I have come to do your will, oh God. James 4:15 – We again see ourselves submitting to God's will "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." 1 John 5:14 – This is the confidence we have in approaching God that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

 

From this we learn that the Lord will answer our prayers when it is in accordance with his will. In order to know his will, we must be willing to be taught, come humbly before him, we must allow ourselves to be subject to his will, we must listen and guided by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will instruct us on what to pray to God for. If we are listening and obeying we will know God's will for our lives. Thank you Lord Jesus Christ.
