Matthew
on our choice of words
Matthew 12:33-37 “Make a tree good and its fruit will be
good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by
its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers,
how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart
is full of. 35 A good man brings good things
out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the
evil stored up in him. 36 But I tell you that
everyone will have to give account on the Day of Judgment for every empty word
they have spoken. 37 For by your words you
will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Matthew 15:11, 18-20) Make a tree good and its fruits will be good, or make a tree bad and
its fruits will be bad. For a tree is recognized by its fruits (we are the
tree). You brood of vipers, how can you that are evil say anything that is good.
For out of the overflow of the heart the mouths speak. The good man brings
good things out of the good that is stored up in him and the evil man brings
evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you man will have
to give account on the Day of Judgment for every careless word they have spoken.
For by your words you will be acquitted and by your words you will be
condemned.
So
critically important, words to live by.
We have to watch
what we say very careful, we need to be slow to anger, have patience and not
say things that we will later regret. Our mouth and our tongue are used by
Satan to cause pain, misery and suffering to others and to our self. Think
before you speak! Ask yourself this question. Is what I am about to say good
and thus from the Lord or evil and thus from Satan. Choose your words careful,
they can destroy a relationship in no time. If you have an issue with someone
it is much better to bring your issue before the Lord in prayer than to lash
out at one another later regretting that which was said. Words are easily
spoken but not soon forgiven. You must be very, very careful when speaking
to others, choose your words wisely and you will not become a fool.
Amen.
