Fathers, Anger, Listen

Fathers, Anger, Listen

Ephesians 6:4 – Fathers do not exasperate your children, instead bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Exasperate – to make angry or frustrated, irritated.

1 Thessalonians 4:4-12 – Living to please God. RevelationGalatians 1:12 – I did not receive it by any man, nor was I taught it, I just received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. Isaiah 40:5 – And the glory of the Lord will be revealed and all mankind will see it. Romans 8:18 – I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Listen

Deuteronomy 30:20 – Now choose life so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice and hold fast to him, for the Lord is your life! John 10:27 – My sheep listen to my voice, I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they shall not perish. No one can snatch them out of my hand. James 1:19-21 – Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for a man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. So get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you which can save you. More on listening in doing. James 19-27 – Don’t merely listen, do what it says, you will be blessed in what you do. In Proverbs 18:13 – we are instructed – He who answers before listening that is his folly and his shame. We need to listen to the Lord, it is one thing to speak to him it is another to listen to his voice, heed his commands, obey and take action.

Anger

Proverbs 29:22 – An angry man stirs up dissension and a hot tempered one commits many sins. In 1 Corinthians 13:5 – we see that love is not easily angered. Proverbs 15:1 – A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 29:11 – A fool gives full vent to his anger but a wise man keeps himself under control. In the bible it talks about controlling your anger but not how to prevent it. Prevention is the key to control –

Preventionprevent – to keep from taking place, ward off. To keep someone from acting.

Preventive – preventing as against failure, precautionary.

Control – to exercise dominating influence or authority over. Authority or ability to regulate, dominate or direct.

Prevention, knowing what causes us pain and sorrow and avoiding it will bring us joy. Many of us associate pleasure with the success of others (baseball team winning) however this can also bring us heartache and pain when they lose. The key to keeping your emotions in check is to remind yourself that you have absolutely no control over the outcome. Why do we emotionally tie ourselves to a particular community, church, school, sports team, friendship, home, vacation, leisure activity, routine, and vacation spot? We must continually remind our self that we are here to love and serve the Lord, the Lord only. Associating our self with the winning and losing of a sports team will only bring us joy and frustration and anger. Associating our self with the ebb and flow of the stock market will drive a person absolutely insane. We have no control over the stock market, sports team, local news media outlets, magazines, other people, places and things. In truth we don’t even have control over our salvation or eternal destiny. Father in heaven gave us free will not control, he has asked us to leave the controlling to him. There is no way we can be in control of our lives and be happy, happiness comes when we lose control and allow Heavenly Father through his son Jesus Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to control our every thought, word and deed. Pray unceasingly, the Holy Spirit will direct us according to our Heavenly Father's will on what to think, do and say.
