Faith
without works is dead
Put
God to the test – prayer, communicate – how can we trust if we don't experience
(Faith). How can we learn to believe (trust). It is one thing to say we
believe, another thing to put our belief into action, action is the catalyst
that develops and deepens or strengthens our faith, belief, understanding,
trust, acceptance of God's word. That is why Heavenly Father said faith without
works is dead.
James
2:20 – As the body
without the spirit is dead, so is faith without works. James 2:14 – What good is it
my brothers, if a man claims to have faith, but has no deeds. Can such faith
save him? James 2:17 – You see that his faith and his actions were
working together and his faith was made complete by what he did. James 2:24 – You see a person is justified by what he does and not faith alone.
We
see here that faith is developed by strict adherence to God's commands. God
calls us to love and serve, obey his commands, repent , to be baptized, believe
in the name of Jesus, have faith and believe in his power and goodness, love
Him, love our neighbor, the list of commands is endless. If we have faith, we
will be obedient to his commands. God lays out a guide to life in the Bible,
these are not a set of suggestions but rather guidance, contacts, commands by
which to lead our life.
Hebrews 11:1 – Faith is being sure of what we hoped for
and certain of what we do not see. A whole section of examples of man
living by faith can be found in the 11th chapter of Hebrews. Deuteronomy 11:13 – So if you
faithfully obey the commandments I am giving you today to love the Lord, your
God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will …
What will he do? What has he promised us? What has he covenanted with us? Well,
there are books written on the subject, suffice it to say, he will bring us
joy. Heavenly Father wants us to communicate with him, he desires a personal
relationship with each and every one of us. He requests that we pray to him, he
doesn't suggest we put him to the test but if we believe in Him and have faith,
he will hear and answer our prayers.
2 Chronicles
7:14 – We must humble ourselves in
prayer.
Matthew 6:9 – This is how you
should pray – Lord's Prayer. Luke
18:1 – Should always pray and never
give up. Luke 22:40 – Pay that we will not fall into temptation.
Romans 8:26 – We do not know what to pray for, but the
spirit himself intercedes for us. 1
Thessalonians 5:16, 17 – Be joyful
always, pray continuously, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's
will for you in Jesus Christ. Ezra
4:23 – So we fasted and petitioned our God about this and He answered our
prayer. Mark 11:24 – Therefore I tell you
whatever you ask in prayer, believe you have received it and it will be
yours. In 1 Peter 3:12 – we are told his ears are attentive to our
prayers. He hears us. 1 Chronicles
5:20 – He answered their prayers
because they trusted in him.
