There
are 11 components to the Lord’s Prayer, let’s take a look at each of them.
The
Lord’s Prayer can be found in Matthew
6:9-13
“This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
Luke 11:2-4.
He said to them, “When you
pray, say:
“‘Father,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
3 Give us each day our daily bread.
4 Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation.’”
Matthew
tells us in chapter 6 verse 6, when you pray, go into your
room, close the door and pray to your father who is unseen. 8 –
Your father knows what you need before you ask him. This then is how you should
pray, and then he recites what we now call the Lord’s Prayer, or the Our
Father.
Who do we pray
to? Our Heavenly Father.
Where is our
Heavenly Father? In heaven.

In
the Lord’s Prayer we are doing several things, praying, praying to our father
in heaven, praising him, glorifying him, honoring or revering him, humbling our
self before him, acknowledging that he is the ruler of the whole earth and that
he is the creator of the earth.
We
are requesting that his will not ours be done, as he would have it.
We
are asking to provide us the necessities of life, forgive our sins; we forgive
those who sinned against us.
We
are asking his help in keeping us free from temptation and away from the evil
one.
We
also acknowledge Christ as our savior because we know Christ himself referred
to himself as the bread of life.
We
also acknowledge our willingness to submit to the reign of a king.
This
prayer truly has all the elements the Lord desires.
He
says in Matthew 6:5, 7, 8 – And when you pray, do not keep babbling on
like pagans. Do not be like them for your father knows what you need before you
ask him. Our father knows what we need and he will search the inner recesses of
our heart and provide for us according to his will and plan.
What
do they mean then when it is said to pray continuously?
Really
what that means is to remember the Lord throughout your day in all your
thoughts, words and deeds.
Keep
asking yourself, is this what the Lord would want me thinking, saying or doing
at this very moment.
He
wants to hear from us.
He
wants to know that we are putting him first.
He
wants to be consulted, worshiped, praised, honored, and thanked.
He
will provide us with many blessings if we but ask him.
He
will hear our prayer; however our Heavenly Father wants to hear from us all day
long.
Thank
you Lord for my wonderful life.
I
love you Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.
Please
manifest your will in me, I will listen and obey,
I
will stay in communication with you throughout my day.
Amen.
